Busy - what lovely news.  Congrats to all concerned.

OH and I have retreated from the sun for a while to have lunch.  I've been planting and he's been digging for my new rose and clems beds.   It's quite noisy out there - lots of birdsong and crickets doing what they do.   Frogs have gone quiet tho.

Clari - you need to teach your OH to iron his own shirts.  Keep him out of trouble.

    Congratulations Busy-Lizzie image

Hosta - that thunderstorm rolled over us at about 2.30am - amazing, wasn't it? I don't think I've ever seen lightning like that.

Obelixx, our window sills are only 11 cm wide (4.25"). Too narrow for pots. Always has been a problem. image

    Thanks for the encouragement though.

    Afternoon all!

Congratulations to BL on your happy news!  Lovely that they called her after you, too.  image

Great to see you again, Bushman.  As you will have gathered from all the comments, you've been missed!  Hope things go better from now on.

Wonky, good to have the "trainees" explained...  image  ...and great that the job is giving you so much satisfaction.  You sound a happy woman!

Your OH does indeed sound a treasure, Dove.  image

Thunder is rumbling round the hills but we've had only a few drops of rain so far.  Selfishly, I'm hoping we miss today's downpours - the council has run out of money for street cleaning, and there are 5 drainage gratings on the hill between here and the town centre which are completely blocked with leaves and debris.  The town will flood again if we get heavy rain, cos there's nowhere for it to go... I've emailed and rung the council but nothing has happened.  The road sweeper has been up only once in 18 months, so it's not surprising that the debris has ended up blocking the road drains.  We need the truth; if there's no money for basic maintenance, maybe we should set up residents' working parties to sweep the roads and clean the gratings on a voluntary basis...  image

Me too Dove, second time round is indeed lucky. I learned from my early mistakes.
