Hi folks,  A few pages back someone asked if the hellebore was from Ashwoods but I can't remember whoimage.  Yes it was, I went on the first of their Hellebore tours this year and I couldn't resist it.  It didn't have a name they just had it labelled as being from the 'Evolution' range.  Apparently they keep their colour longer.  The tour was very good value and really highlighted how difficult it is for them to get consistency in their varieties.

I'm going back this afternoon as hubby is buying me a plant for Valentines Day.  We don't do cards or make much of a fuss but he usually gets me flowers or a plant.  I on the other hand don'timage I feel a bit guilty now.

Off to secondborn's this evening for a three day nanna duty.

Hi from Kingswinford in the West Midlands
  • Yvie - you can let your hubby look at your plant when it's growing beautifully in the garden - that's his Valentine's present image

Well, fruit bushes and the vine have all been pruned, autumn raspberries cut down, perennials and miscanthus-type grasses cut back, a few environmentally friendly slug pellets scattered around the shady bit where the hostas live, some Creeping Buttercups pulled out of the border (they keep creeping through from NDN) and another robin-type bird box put up.  I've had a much needed shower and there's been an attempt at an improvement to my 'manicure' image and now I'm going to prep our supper ... see you in a bit ...

Hubby has just made me a sausage butty for breakfast. That'll do for me.

And NO, it's NOT a  ( an ?  that sounds weird ) euphemism. image

My other half helped me make my lunch this morning. So I appear to be missing my sandwiches and any sweet snack. This is clearly a ruse so that he can present me with a huge box of chocolates and tell me how I can scoff the lot without feeling guilty because I didn't eat anything naughty at lunch. image

We'll see! He did drop me off at the fire station (which is on his way to work) to save me getting the bus so all is well. Today's nursery was fun: but the fact that the manager seems to drive a Bentley makes me think that this is the really rather posh side of Sheffield!

Gammon tonight (his favourite) as a valentines treat. Then I'm hoping for an early night... because I'm shattered. Is it really only Tuesday??

Still the sun is out, hopefully the lawn will be drying out.

Yvie, The last hellebore I bought at Ashwoods is now flowering. It is labelled as Primadonna and is similar to yours. I have just had a wander up the garden, and I think the hellebore seed from 2015 summer is just germinating.   They could be interesting.

Hubby bought me a new orchid (dendrobium)  and a card . Snowdrops are doing quite well , a white pulmonaria is out, various hellebores are flowering and the Viburnum is perfuming the garden. If its warm tomorrow I may move a few foxgloves out of the veg patch into flowering position.

While Rasta was being trimmed I pruned some excess branches from an as yet unidentified multi-stemmed large shrub/small tree and then tackled the first of two wisterias which is sending shoots under the roof of the garage.  Then Bonzo came with me to fetch Rasta so he could have his dew claws trimmed.  Lovely.

Then off on a rusty shelf hunt where I also found a pine cupboard with hanging space and shelves and some pretty carved decoration on the doors.   Need to go and fetch that with OH and a roof rack as it wouldn't fit in the back of Sally.   Came home to find OH just back form golf and clearing branches away.  Mutter mutter rust.   Mega mutter what--do-we-need-a-cupboard for?   Stoopid buy!  To stop him moaning about teh sliding doors on the built in cupboard where I shall now house the vacuum cleaner and the steam machine to save him form struggling with sliders.

Went to cuddle Rasta and Oh Horrors.  They've put sparkly nail varnish on her toe nails!

    I need a coffee.

I got a card today! The nursery group I visited made it for me.

Knowing Rasta I'm assuming one held and t'other painted.  It won't last.  When she's feeling better she'll be scamping round the garden digging for rats, voles, moles and just the fun of it and OH has just done their usual 70 minute circuit, mostly unmade gravelled, stony or cobbly lanes with ruts and some grassy bits and about 25 mins of tarmac.   Bonzo does so much to-ing and fro-ing he only ever needs his dew claws cut.

    Great card Clari.

I think 'rusty shelf hunt' might become a swear word/phrase that I could utilise....

Could have done with it today at work after the seemingly endless calls from people who think we've all been in an  accident. I made do with 'my only recent accident was answering the phone.....'

Anyway, SImon Mayo's restored my calm by playing Joan Armatrading' Love and Affection as part of their Love Song/Valentiney thingy today  (that's the correct name for it by the way  image ) Classy, classy song.

Is the nail varnish a desperate attempt at summat because of what day it is? image

Reheated goulash for tea. Nice and simple -only veg to do. I know how to live image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
