We've kept some of those old phones for that reason as well. There's the original one in the shed (from before we got the house) and its attached to the wall. Then there is one in a bedroom in the house. We have no mobile reception in our valley, so if the power goes off we can still ring up and find out what's happening.
Poor you Joyce! Hope it doesn't get worse and you get some rest this afternoon
Fairy I am going to try your weather app, mine is shocking
Pat, we are trying to seriously reduce sugar, don't think we will ever be sugar free tho! It's hard!!
chicky I am amazed there is any of that cake left
Hosta I am "allergic" to paint, I smell it for weeks after it's used. Many hotels have had to change my room! Place slices of bread around the house, don't know why but it seems to help
Obelixx sounds like you are going to have a nice day, let us know if you find anything "different"
meeting a friend for lunch in our lovely village cafe, it's named after a very old apple which was grown in the area,Scrib, I am trying to source it to plant which seems appropriate for the new orchard planting.

Morning all, evening Pat, glad you had it a bit cooler yesterday
Well done Dove on completing a womble jumper! Thanks ...continue to rest tho! If you have to knit another jumper...no probs!
Joyce, I'm sorry to hear you have been caught in the lurgy camp! Plenty of rest is the key, Dove got me some selenium vitamins which are great for your immune system, I have them every day, but we all get a stubborn virus when its our turn...hope hours isn't too persistent, learn from this bunch and try not to overdo it on your recovery. Hugs and tissues!
Lantana, sorry your feeling rubbish too! Spring is round the corner, when I'm feeling low, I walk around the garden looking at green shoots...then my nose starts running cuz its freezing and I hide indoors again! Get well soon
Hosta, well done on the restful nights sleep! Think sometimes I leave it too late and am then too tired to sleep....if your body shuts down at 9...just go with it and let your brain follow!
Chicky, glad Chicklet has been enjoying the celebrations and cake! you know she's a grown up now as her birthdays last for days!
Wonky, you know you're over "27" but under 85 when you start keeping quiet about being a year older... eventually you get to the stage where you say "I'm nearly 90, you know!" like a lady in Mum's previous care home, in the hopes everyone will say "Aren't you marvellous for your age!" and make you lots of cake.
And excellent advice about looking at green shoots to aid mental recovery. There's nothing like a snowdrop appearing where you thought there was nothing, or the scent of wet earth, or a robin singing, to help you turn the corner. Thank you for the reminder.
Sorry to hear the Lurgy has claimed another victim or two. OH's choirs are depleted at the moment because people are coughing fit to bust. Keep warm and rested, Joyce!
It's damp, grey and misty this morning so I think cooking and housework are calling. We have visitors this weekend so needs must...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Had trouble getting here again, still won't let me see the previous page.
Quiet day planned. I'm sticking photos of our trip to New York in 2015 (when OH and choir sang in Carnegie Hall) in an album. I took so many photos of Central Park etc. Trying to weed some out or there won't be room.
OH is going to choir practice tonight, so I'll do an afternoon meal.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Just been out in the garden Liri, found a pack of 90 mixed crocus in the shed now planted I now have 3 snowdrops with proper heads, now they just need to show their faces too! There are so many bulbs coming up everywhere...didn't realise I'd planted so many! Longing for some sunshine! If only Pat could send some over!
Sounds like a nice kind of day BusyL love those ones! Toocold here to stay outside long, I managed just over an hour but the windchill is bitter, think I'll join you in the planning of supper
Sorry your now in pain along with feeling c**p Pdoc, don't underestimate the lurgy! Or it will stick around.... Ask Dove!
Now going to warm up from the time spent outside just now.....should take a hot chocolate and an episode of Poirot!

Hi all.
I continue to cough and have now damaged a rib, so am in a lot of pain too. At least the weather is foul, so I am not missing much.
