    Morning Dove.

The ad just said " south facing, out of sight of a road and away from heavy human traffic. Honey in return.

I don't like honey, so they can keep it, but i just want to help the wee bees.

    Devon.
  • Sounds ideal - We like honey - you can put it on our breakfast toast image

Just spoken to " the bee man" he's popping round tomorrow to have a look and a proper chat.

I'll ask for a jar just for you.

Is that the ad you saw (or a similar one)? http://www.bbka.org.uk/shop/adopt-a-beehive-and-enjoy-armchair-beekeeping

I don't know about the UK but in France you have to declare your bee-hives to the ministry of agriculture. See http://mesdemarches.agriculture.gouv.fr/demarches/particulier/effectuer-une-declaration-55/article/declarer-la-detention-et-l

Personally I love honey but have to stay away from it because of diabetes (type 2).image

Papi Jo, I've just spoken to him and he says if the site is suitable and we go ahead, we don't have to do anything to them. He / and / or his wife will have to just come once a week .

    Hi all.

Lovely and sunny here, but very frosty. Expecting snow later.

At least all the bad weather has allowed me to get off to a good start with the studying, although I will admit to some doubts as to whether I will be able to keep it up for 6 years.

Some half hardies sown yesterday, I think they need an early start to ensure I get a good display.

I "woke" up my Colocasia last week and it is springing into life.

Honey sounds a great idea Hosta, all those extra pollenators.

    Have a good day.

It's windy and wet again here today.  We've now chalked up 8cm of rain since the 20th of Jan when we started recording.    Chappy came round early this morning to ask if his men could start on insulating the annex ready for a ceiling to go in because it isn't nice working outside.  We have thus spent the morning emptying things out of the way - to the outside sheds and ruin so a bit wet for OH or the dining room for me which is noisy because Rasta barks at the wind whistling in the chimney.

I would love some bee hives here when we get our veg garden growing but we don't consume very much honey so I'll have to rely on solitary bees and wild honey bees for whom I will provide shelter.

Possum goes back to Namur this afternoon so we'll have an early lunch and take the dogs to explore Angers before we put her on her train.   Turns out she's only brought the teeny case so no room for her sweet potatoes and the new jeans.   Dilemma.

Have recorded the Mary Berry programme.  Not sure why they make people cook outside for these progs.    All Keith Floyd's fault.

Have a safe and cosy day everyone.

Keith Floyd was the guy who got me interested in cooking, I think I just liked the idea that you could drink wine while you were doing it.

    Morning all.
Pouring with rain and there have been strong winds and flickering of electricity.

Gosh, Papi Jo, I hope I don't have to declare my bees with their 4 honeycombs under my upturned defunct wheelbarrow.

Does anybody watch those antique programmes, such as Antique Road Trip and Bargain Hunt? I do occasionally. They always bargain and ask what the best price is. When we were in Norwich I tried that in 2 big emporiums (i?) but was told that everything belonged to dealers or private people who didn't work in the store so the prices couldn't be lowered. I said that I'd seen bargaining on TV in that very store and he said that it was all pre-arranged by the TV company. I felt rather annoyed.
