Re Steve Hewlett - I've listened to those interviews too, Joyce. Inspirational stuff - he'll be missed.
Mum had a happy day and liked the African violets, though I don't think she remembered having grown them. It was lovely and sunny and she was in a good mood, admiring the blue sky and scudding clouds; we were even able to share a joke at one point. It's strange how although her memory is almost non-existent, and her abilities are seriously impaired, there are still sparks of the old Mum in there... strange, but lovely...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Hello everyone. I've been trying all day to catch up with your posts, but have only now done so. Interesting to read that young people in the U.K. are finding it difficult to but their first home. We're the same here. Our children will never be able to buy their own (Well, not until we die, anyway). They they might, but who knows.
We had 1c temp this morning and some friends who live closer to the river had minus 1c. I'm still from the old school that thinks the season shouldn't change until 21st or 22nd of March, not 1st as the TV people think. Could someone please tell the person responsible for our weather that it's still summer, not autumn. Wandering around in tracksuit trousers instead of shorts and wearing socks instead of being barefoot. The high country peaks in Victoria and NSW all had snow overnight. Crazy weather!
Cant remember the other things I read, sorry, but best wishes to all. Enjoyed listening to the song, Dove.
Afternoon Pat. It doesn't seem long since you posted pics of spring flowers and now autumn is approaching. You will be more comfortable re the temperature.
We had some milder weather but here, in Scotland, there's talk of snow later in the week.
Morning all, afternoon Pat interesting to hear that the situation with young home ownership is the same where you are.I wonder what excuses your government use!
Lirio, glad your Mum enjoyed the violets and that you were both able to enjoy the time, sounds like she had a happy birthday
Hope your over your cold now Joyce wrap up if its going to get chillier. Snow is the last thing that you want! We haven't needed to turn the heating on this morning as its already at 18. Its supposed to get colder here too by Friday, but the way I see it, that's days away and it can change!
Morning all. Efforts to be organised have resulted in me spilling the bird food all over the lawn fortunately so they've quite the feast today! Funny to see the flock of hedge sparrows lined up to use the one feeder. What is wrong with the other two I've no idea.
They must be getting ready for spring; they've only recently started draining the feeders every day (twice if I get the chance to top it up). With the neighbours acquiring another two cats I don't think we'll have many fledglings dancing around the flower beds this year.
We've only two weeks til the plaster arrives. Everything is looking very unready and I'm away this weekend on a camp at the museum (brr).
Glad you had a good visit with your mum and that she enoyed the flowers
Cool, 4 degrees, but dry here for now - more of the wet stuff to come later. Just as well I'll be at work. Snow forecast for Thursday so I don't think it's quite time for seed sowing
doc - there are some who will never realise that gardening further north - in fact, living further north, is very different from the 'bubble' of the south of England
I think Innervisions was the first SW album I bought. Living for the City has one of the finest intros ever recorded, I reckon.
Better go and have a quick swatch round here before I haul my a*se to work. Is it too soon to retire?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Fairy , when we travel westward between now and May, as we often do, the difference in the arrival of spring is really noticeable - even more when we travel south-west.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
