Good Joyce. You sound as though you've got it all planned out.

I hope Joyce has been able to get some rest. All is quiet here - OH is still asleep and as he's not working today I'm trying not to wake him.

Morning Pat, Dove and Joyce - hope the coughing eases during the dayimage

Nice birthday evening with littlest Chicklet yesterday - thank you all for your birthday wishes.  She has an evening with friends planned for Friday, and we are meeting up with family for a meal out in London on Saturday, so this birthday still has a few more miles in it yetimage

The cake was very chocolatey (that was the brief image) - plenty left if anyone wants a slice for breakfastimage

Morning all. When I left work yesterday we still had no power. I've noticed that when the power is off our phone line can't do the "press 1 for..." so just rings.

So to give me confidence all will be well I just called it as I waited for my turn in the shower.

    It just kept ringing.

I've just tweeted Northern Power in the hope they can respond quickly.

    Morning all.

I gave up and went to bed at 9 last night, and amazingly, slept until 6.55 this morning. HURRAH.

Sorry the lurgy seems to be spreading.I'm all for Pat's advice, sleep it off.

Clari, you need an old style plug into the socket , corded, not portable, phone. You can pick them up on freecycle or at a car boot sale for next to, or even, nothing. The still work during power cuts.

Morning everyone.  Hugs for all the sick ones. Chicky that cake is just too tempting for words. I'm trying very hard to resist sugary things, but it's a real trial. image

Weve had a full day of no sun at all. No rain. But it was so much more comfortablethan  thepast weeks. I'm not looking forward to the next few days as it's supposed to turn very hot again.  Apparently much of Australia is breaking lots of summer heat and rain records. Can't remember them all, but is it a sign that they are right about warming?

  • Hosta that's a really good sleep! image

Clari ... It's not your OHs way of getting out of doing the wiring is it? image

Chicky - glad the birthday girl is enjoying herselfimage

It's cold out,but lovely and sunny.

I'm aiming to head to B&M bargains store opening in Bude later to see if they have any gardening stuff.

House still stinks of paint ( sorry Clari ) . Hubby is immune to it but I had to take 2 paracetamol last night due to thumping headache.

    Morning all/afties Pat image

I keep one of those phones for exactly that purpose Hosta. Although I suppose it's less important nowadays when we have mobiles. I hate those things  image

Hope you're not too badly afflicted Joyce. Keep tucked up and warm.

I couldn't manage cake for breakfast chicky, but I expect youngest would have no problem! Choc cake is her favourite too.

Cold but dryish here today, but no idea what we're to get. I use the online Metcheck forecast Obelixx, but mainly for hills as you can put them in directly. I look at it for my own area, but as the doodah isn't actually 'here' but several miles away and at lower level, it's usually a couple of degrees out for temps. Pretty good apart from that though.image

Better go and feed the birds and get ready to go. Catch you all later - have a good day everyone

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Some people are sensitive to paint fumes Hosta so open as many windows as you can till they're gone.

Hope you get your leccy back today Clari and that all lurgy sufferers are feeling better - or will do soon.   First night I've slept thru since the kittens arrived so up bright and early - no toe twinges, no snoring OH and no nocturnal kitten pounces round my scalp.  Excellent.

It's bright and sunny but cold and we're off to explore the market at La Roche along with a couple of "exotic" food shops.  Set to stay dry and sunny for the next few days so i'll be out spraying stuff on the hummocky grass and weeds in the potager ready for the mini digger.

Hope you don't get too hot Pat.
