Where I am, in Dordogne, France, we often have temperatures of 34° in summer. We tend to have stone houses with wooden shutters instead of air con. But now, in Feb. it's cold.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Here in the Vendée we have a stone house too but the façade and east wall have rendering and stone mullions. The doors and windows are newish and double-glazed with electric roll down shutters. No curtains - yet. While renovating, the last owners covered all the internal stone walls with plasterboard and did a lot of insulation so we keep warm enough in winter to have only needed to light the wood burner about 4 times. It gets so hot I'm thinking of swapping it for a smaller model as we like flames but not the overwhelming heat;
No aircon but up until mid November we had at least one or two doors and windows open most of the day and that's what we'll do come summer. We also have a terrace on the north side so we can stay cool if we need to.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Olberlix , went to Monets garden last year, really enjoyed it not as big as I thought it would be , lots of Orential pictures in house again very nice , in fact whole village was nice including museum
The sun came out so went for a walk , it has started snowing again ❄️
we've survived today, but still another day to go on the forecast. We are currently on top of the bed clothes with windows open and a fan going. The moon looks to be one night from full. There is still a grey smudge on the lower right corner, so probably tomorrow night it'll be a full circle.
The grey smudge is a penumbral eclipse Pat - partial blocking of sun by the earth that looks like a cloud passing over the moon. We'll see it in full at midnight tonight, assuming clear skies.

Leftovers to consume here too - in fact, I'm spoilt for choice. Could have sent you some to heat up doc. Hope you're not in too much pain. It's not so bad if the weather's keeping you in though - that would be worse.
Cold , still only about 2 degrees, and it keeps trying to chuck in a little snow shower, but we're betwixt and between here. But - it's dry so always a bonus. White, even at fairly low level, from the other side of Glasgow and then north. Sky's clear enough to get a reasonable view of the hills. Eastern side, and LPilly further south, getting some too. If I go to Glen Etive tomorrow, I'll be getting plenty of the white stuff. Ice axe and crampons are packed....
You're having a rough time, flowers. It could be worse - it could be spring or summer and you wouldn't be able to do stuff outdoors. Positive thinker, me...
Hope you're properly on the mend soon though. Any typeof illness or inury is really wearing when it drags on like that.
Glad the exams went well Obelixx. It's hideously stressful for so many. I remember my sister throwing up on the bus, on the way to school, because of exams
Did you sleep well last night Hosta?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Last night was fine Fairy thanks. I'm sticking with the 7.30 alarm calls and it seems to be making me tired at a sensible time of night and allowing me to get to sleep too. Odd bad nights, but seems, SEEMS to be settling down.

Afternoon all.
Mulching done and now the sun is breaking through.
Lunch of leftovers. A bit of mashed spud and some butternut squash and caramelised red onion risotto.
Sure tastes good after working out there in the cold.
What IS all this talk of open windows to cool down, shutter to keep out the heat and air con??? You're all mad.
Well done to Possum. And hello to everyone else
