Lizzie I hope you don't get any damage. I did see that you were having high winds on the weather forecast.
Joyce I have lots of salad too (when I'm being good). Are we letting the side down?.
Enjoy your knitying session Lily and Dove. Off to SM in a minute to stock up for the Superbowll final tomorrow night. The mad men here stay up nearly all night but I'll be tucked up nice and early.
DD you're doing exactly the right thing by taking some time out to try to relax xx.
The sun has made an appearance so I hope it will set to work on drying out my boggy grass so I can do some serious Saturday pottering outside. Excited to inspect the tree-work I have had done this week as haven't actually seen it in the daylight yet.
Sunny here so I'll be shifting leaves in a bit, carefully deposited on my lawn and patio last week by those strong winds. But since it's only 2C out there, I'll not be doing it for long! I guess I'll then be joining Dove and Lily on the sofa with my knitting. Don't worry, I'll not jab you with the needles - they're just little ones cos I'm knitting socks.
Keep warm and safe, BL!
There was apparently a story in a "gutter press" paper about Spain stock-piling lettuces so the price would go up for us Brits. Made me laugh - the writer has obviously never grown, or tried to store, a lettuce... I like a salad too, but then I'm not a Scot.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
No shortages here. Don't understand it. I'm picking at least 2 zucchinis each day, so we are pressed to keep up. I sent a bag of tomatoes to a friend who Hubby was visiting today.
As an aside, the reason he was visiting was because he wanted to borrow a DVD, the story behind this, is that watching 'Murder in Paradise' last night and when the detectives were visiting London on a murder investigation, there was another policeman there who sounded suspicially like 'Dougal' from Father Ted. - brings back memories, doesn't it? Anyway, we decided it was that actor, so Hubby asked our friend if he had the DVD from the series. Success. He is unrecognisable now, but his voice hasn't changed. I believe he is taking over the next series. Could be interesting.
Gotta love 'journalists' Liri. You're about half way to being a Scot now though....we're adopting you
Positively warm here compared to you then - 4 degrees. Barbecue weather for Scotland
I'm not a lover of salad in winter, but I do love veg. The nearest my younger daughter gets to it is the tomato sauce on her chips...
I always swore I wouldn't force certain foods on my children because I think it's counter productive. They always ate a lot of fruit as youngsters, and had fresh produce for meals, and they'll come round to veg - as I did. They eat plenty of certain ones, just not a variety. We eat very little processed food too.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Thank you Hosta, Chicky and Fairygirl . The bonking toads did indeed make make me chuckle. Or rather Hosta's "SOZ!" did.
Dove I am sorry to hear you're feeling so yucky. This lurgy is a b****r isn't it? Hope the R&R knocks it on the head for once and for all. At least it gave you some time off to enjoy your escapades recently I guess.
Pat, send some zucchini/courgettes over here if you've got some spare. I love them.
DD, glad your plans are moving on and that you are coping - you should do whatever you need to, to get through. You have lots of support here.
BL that weather sounds very bad. Is it calmer now?
Soggy here but supposed to brighten up a bit. I'll be in a cathedral so won't know if it does! The snowdrops are indeed in flower but I think I might have lost quite a lot of bulbs. There's a bed where I planted daffodils and tulips and I was hoping they just weren't showing yet.. but then I spotted just one daffodil in a fairly advanced stage of growth... which I think might mean the others have gone . The opposite bed also had quite a lot - no sign of anything but bluebells coming up. The squirrels here are blighters and have dug loads out of pots, but I also wonder whether the ones in the ground might have rotted. Fingers crossed I'm wrong and they're just hiding!

That was my first thought too Hosta. Who's buying three lettuces at one go? Unless you have a huge family or are entertaining a wedding party!
Maybe it's this guy.....
he'll have an ever growing family after all. They breed like....well...rabbits..

Nearly spat my tea out laughing at that Busy!

Hi all.
Lovely and sunny here, but I seem to have caught the lurgy and am feeling rotten.
Day on the sofa, at least I have the 6N to watch.
