Would you like the loan of a simmit Dove? Temps got up to five here after the frosty start, with a faint bit of sun. Rain coming later though
Might try and get summat done outside, but I now need a back light on the car so should go to Halford's and get it done in case I walk tomorrow. The east is looking marginally ok for later, but the forecast is pretty pants everywhere... sigh..
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Now the bulb in the garage has blown - no spare in the bulb box 'cos it's a 'big' one and has been fine since we moved here nearly seven years ago. Well have to manage until I go to the wonderful hardware shop in the city.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
We were very surprised to find a scattering of bayonet bulbs when we moved here after 25 years of screw-ins or halogen and then LED spots in Belgium. Meant we had to go and buy spares for the kitchen and outhouses. Gradually changing those light fittings now as they look rather ancient. Curiously, light fittings are much cheaper in Belgium, as are new radiators, electrical cable and connections, pipes and all sorts, not to mention VAT for work on old buildings.
Have done the supermarket raid. No mango chutney so I'm about to make some. OH says the latest batch of lime pickle is delish so I hope the mango recipe works as well.
We left the robot going while we were out. OH found it bleeping under a tall shelf unit with a message "Please release me". I can feel a song coming on.

Afternoon all, Had a busy few days, been clearing up after Doris today, lost the top off the patio heater, no great loss as we hardly ever used it. Also had a few pots turned over and the roof felt ripped off the wood shed. It was one hell of a storm so all in all I think we got off lightly.
Mabel and Merri stayed here on a 'sleepover' Wednesday night. First time without Firstborn and SIL. What a disaster. They both ended up in my bed (hubby had to sleep in the spare room). Merri talks constantly in her sleep and Mabel snores for England. I was reading most of the night. According to my Fitbit I managed 3 hours of sleep all night. Not an exercise I'll be repeating, I think I'll stay at their house in future.
Have ordered two new roses from DA. Lady of Shallot and Olivia Rose. Have prepared the planting sites today.
Don't think I'll be watching your programme Steephill, terrified of snakes so a no no from me.
Just had a look and steephill's prog is on again on Sunday night at 8
Rain came on so went to get tail light bulb replaced. Daughter had decided to be 'helpful' by doing the indicator on way back from work, and has knackered it - it's wiring rather than bulb. The guy couldn't fix it this time, so I'll have to go to the garage. B****y cars. B****y kids....
House bulbs are a total lottery nowadays aren't they? I must have every type imaginable in this house, and it's not that old. Drives me nuts.
Not too bad then Yvie, re your damage. I see a couple of people have lost fence panels here, but that's a regular occurrence. They need to replace them with the right type of fence - those larch lap things are useless in windy sites, but they haven't worked that out yet

Well the cover is back on the polytunnel. It has a few extra holes in from the rose bush, so I expect this cover will last this summer and then the frame will make a fruit cage. Delphiniums are growing, so I gave them a dressing of crushed eggshells. I transplanted a few foxgloves. Lots of new shoots are growing, the daffs have buds and a few early tulips are in flower. It seems more like mid March than Feb, but it has now dropped a bit chilly.
I'm late looking in here today; I've spent most of the day helping OH with his model railway (hopefully gaining brownie points thereby!) and we've just eaten whilst watching Monty. I'd love an allotment... but suspect it's one dream I'll never fulfill.
I'm glad you've survived Doris largely unscathed. There are a lot of leaves and twigs in the garden, but otherwise everything looks good here.
Your granddaughters' sleepover sounds a bit less than ideal, Yvie...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
OH ahs just left to pick up Possum at Angers. Wanted to get there in time to have a coffee and relax before driving home. I have a some lemon curd on the go now as she loves it. Making a large quantity so I have some for her to take back to Namur and some to give to our lovely neighbours either side. Might be stirring for a while.............
My mango chutney will need extra mangoes. Turns out this Antilles chilli is volcanic! I like a kick, not anesthesia of the taste buds.

Been window cleaning in Felixstowe..coastal breezes and wet hands...hmmm...how nice!
Plastic greenhouse thingy survived the remainder of Doris after my bin bag and duct tape adornment!
