The grandsons found something really exciting today, a hive of wild bees with 4 super honeycombs in it. The bees had used my old wheelbarrow that I used to use to muck out the summer horse shelter. It's very old, my grandfather gave it to me in England when we bought our first house in 1973. The wheel came off and it was too heavy to carry back to the house so I'd put it in the woods the other side of the fence, upside down. The bees have been using it as a hive. It had a small hole where they fly in and out. We left the bees to it, they can keep their honey, I want them to keep coming to my garden.

  • How lovely, BL!  Great to have your own personal supply of fruit tree pollinators.

Sorry to hear that Wonky, Fidget and Punkdoc have lost bits of greenhouses & polytunnels.  Where has Doris dumped them, I wonder?  Hope it's now gone quiet for you all.  We gather there were 89mph gusts of wind early this morning in Galway, and our granddaughters did the school run by car instead of their usual walk; probably best not to be blown away!

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Morning all.lots of trees down here along with fences, roof tiles and the usual debris. We're all safe though.

I was most surprised my nursery group walked to the museum yesterday; I did ask if they chained the smallest to each other so they didn't blow away.

Morning all. The storm has left - in fact it looks beautiful out this morning.

Might celebrate with a second cuppa this morning - well it's half term here so I have been leaving 5/10 mins later than normal as the traffic is so much lighter.

My garden and I live in South Wales.

    Morning all.

Busy, the bees have found a good use for your old wheelbarrow. Keep something long enough. . . . .  An excellent nature lesson for the g'children.

Morning all/afties Pat if you're about

Different white stuff this morning - car will need scraping . Heating decided this was a suitable morning not to come on. The drawback of not having it on much this winter - pressure drops. I made a decision to check it at the beginning of each month - it's trying to outwit me now  image

    Well done Dove! image

Glad all the family are safe Liri. Think Ireland took the real hit yesterday.  image

Lovely to have those resident bees BL  image

The robin was parked on the fence when I put food out below it - he just looked down at me as if to say 'hurry up'. Greedy little b****r image

Quick look before I head out. Have a good day everyone - hope there isn't too much clearing up to be done in gardens.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    Morning all.

We didn't have the storm too bad at all down  here. No worse than usual Atlantic gales.

Had a nice driving route yesterday, although Mother  moving in with one of my customers threw me as I didn't recognise the name, ad did the sat nav telling me to turn and drive through a hedge into a field. I resisted the temptation.

Lovely sunny day here. Hubby going to the shop and his car is being delivered back , lamp post damage all repaired. It'll be nice to have 2 vehicles again.

I hope all damage can be repaired.

    Almost the weekend folks. image

Shellfish stock made with the lobster bits from Wednesday's supper and already strained and cooling, and shin of beef casserole for tomorrow made and chuntering in the oven, floors swept, kitchen tidy, birds fed and everything tidy ...image
