Morning all. Late night helping friends make 2,000 key rings for an event happening soon plus waking up at 03:00 because the dog (30kg) had decided he wanted to try sleeping on my pillow. I think he's forgotten just how big he is.
Then his lordship was up early so I am feeling quite depleted. If someone could keep the tea pot brimmed I'd be grateful.
Our side of the world is, as usual, disappointing. No rain yet.
There has been a large bushfire south east of Canberra -a little place called Carwoola. 8-15 homes lost. Not yet under control and they havent beeen able to confirm numbers yet. Two fire fighters received some burns but have been reported as being ok. (One of my fears).
temp has dropped today, so that's something positive.
Another crap night, that's about 5 in a row. I'm sure I've been awake more than I've slept.
Looks like a glorious sunny and not too windy day out there. Might even be nice enough to tempt Hubby out to help.
Saw the guy yesterday, who is making my clematis obelisks. Promised for the end of the month, so I gently reminded him there are only 28 days in February and that the clematis have started growing. Fingers crossed.
tee hee. I've just been reading the reaction on " hardy tropical gardening " section on FB to last night's Big Dreams. A lot more entertaining than the programme.
Morning all/afties Pat. Incredible how diverse the planet's weather can be - you have horrific fires and Los Angeles is having some kind of weird cyclone called a 'bombo Genesis' (new invention?) with torrential rain and flooding. I can imagine how frightening it is for you re the burns - or worse
We've just had wet and windy overnight, but the rain's gone off a bit. Don't think it's to be particularly good today though, although the temp is about 8 again, so I'm glad I got a little bit done outside.
I pruned a couple of Group 3 clems Hosta - seemed a reasonable thing to do as they're making new growth. Hope we're getting a pic of the new obs when you get them. I was awake for a while through the night - you could have called me and I'd have bored you back to sleep...
Plenty of tea here Clari
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I was awake for ages too - we could all have had a chat - very unusual for me not to go to sleep as soon as my head hits the pillow, and I hate it when it happens. I think it's usually a result of too much dozing on the sofa.
I think that little back yard is probably quite sheltered, but I saw several plants that I thought will need a lot of 'hay and fleece'. It did however get me looking at the hardier ginger lilies ... There's a supplier just up the road from here ...

Pat, your area certainly needs rain. Hope the bush fires are contained and extinguished soon.
Some overnight rain here but hope it will be dry during the day as the garden is calling. . .

Dove, did you see the " cautleya robusta"
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=cautleya+robusta&rlz=1C1CHFX_en-gbGB480GB480&biw=1821&bih=882&tbm=isch&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwibrM28oJnSAhXpKcAKHf_VBFwQ_AUIDygB
in the community garden ( from NT) ? I can pot up a chunk for you if you'd like and you can collect it when you're here ( if there's room in the car )
I see Trump is using the old " enemies of the people " line.
Where have we heard that before?
