Been out hacking too Obelixx - and not the 'on horseback' kind.
Got loads done, although not the actual job I set out to do. Very mild as there was no wind, and eight degrees. Perfect for snipping, pruning and lopping and such. Dennis junior was getting seriously hacked off with me as I was in his way and he was hungry...again. He gets a 'right face' on him....
He's very sweet though - I'm very fond of him
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
You do know your Denis has probably flown south for winter and this Denis is probably Scandinavian or even Belgian.
OH is having a grump. The One Show is on with Giles Brandreth going on about Otis Redding and I said w e have to get a juke box. We've just bought a deck for vinyls!!! He doesn't understand. Too busy plating cricket and rugby to listen to pop music so hasn't a clue. Even now when we dance he only hears the rhythm, not the music.
Busy - we love Belgian and French sausages. They have real meat and no rusk. Yum. I don't miss bacon as long as I can get lardons for salads and bol. I do miss Irish black pudding but I can certainly live without.
Critters have had a busy day. 2 dogs and 2 kittens flopalot on the sofas and Bonzo is cool. about sharing my sofa with two pussies. Amazing and lovely.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

It was nice being outside this afternoon and hearing the birds singing and making it feel as if spring might almost be round the corner. Crocus are poking through and a few are flowering. Had to clear a couple of areas round them though, as the other planting has spread a bit. Some will need shifted, but that's not an issue. Lots of the new ones planted in autumn are showing well too.
I was so busy I forgot about lunch but I've made up for it by having leftover curry from the freezer....and a cup of tea and a Snickers....

I got quite excited yesterday when I found some bulbs coming through under the unidentified tree I hacked. Not so happy today as they look to be the same as some other bulbs coming up round the well where I know there are Spanish bluebells in amongst the daffs, autumn daffs, cyclamen and campsis. Gonna be a nightmare to eradicate.
Never forget about lunch here. It's my breakfast.
Off to knit now whilst the felines and canines are all zonked and not "helping".

Dennis Junior is almost spherical, Fairy! What have you been feeding him?
We have new robins this winter, round the bird feeders. Unlike the old robin they are puzzled by the squirrel-proof cage, and flutter round trying to land and squeeze through. Hopefully they'll learn how before too long...
The local song thrush sits in the top of a beech tree a few yards from the house, singing its little heart out from early morning to evening. Absolutely glorious!
My pruning at the medical centre was approved by a very bent, very old ex-professional gardener. Nice to be noticed.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
That's not even 'fluffed up' because it's cold. He really is quite rotund....
I'm sure your robins will find their way in. To be hinest, I'm surprising 'old porky' above still gets in the cage... he eats some food on the open ground areas first, then goes under the bench for a bit of that, then uses the cage. He's not daft
We don't seem to have any thrushes around, although we used to get loads round the corner. I did see one not far away a few days ago, so hopefully they might appear in the garden at some point. Mistle thrushes only - no song thrushes here, sadly. I saw a few at work yesterday - lovely.
I must have missed something...what were you getting 'pruned' at the medical centre.....

Not BEING pruned, Fairy, thankfully. (Sideways pruning would be welcome, mind... ) Pruning the community fruit trees & bushes for "Incredible Edible Todmorden", because the previous pruning lady is in hospital and not likely to be well enough to do the job for the foreseeable future.
Somehow "audio description" got turned on, on the telly. I couldn't work out why there was someone describing, sotto voce, what we were looking at in Monty Don's programme. It took ages to find out how to turn it off!

Pheww....thank goodness for that Liri...I was slightly concerned!
I need the subtitles on all the time. Either I'm getting slow or they're all talking much quicker than they used to....
