At last I've planted the other 2 Gertrude Jekyll roses that OH gave me. Had to weed and cut down old perennials first, in the upper rose trellis bed, filled a barrow. Changed quite a lot of earth because there may have been roses there before. We planted it in 1991 but then the deer found the roses so we lost a few. OH has now fenced the main flower garden.
You sound so full of energy Obelixx. Masses seems to be getting done at your place.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
It does seem that we are very busy at the mo. So much for a quiet retirement! But once the basic work is done on the house and in teh garden we can potter along at our own pace.
Gertrude Jekyll is a lovely rose. I took cuttings of mine before we moved, along with Teasing Georgia, Queen of Sweden and another whose label has disappeared and I can't rememeber if it was Generous Gardener or Crocus Rose. Looks like at least one of each is growing so fingers crossed. I have others that were already growing in pots and more on order so lots of lovely roses to come. There isn't a single one in the garden. I do hope your deer fencing works.
Wonky - heroic. My windows need a good clean but they can wait till after the earth moving and kitchen projects.
Yvie - sounds like a good lesson learned. Love the look of your Lady of Shalott. Let us know how she gets on.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Guess who has agreed to yet another shift at work?? Finish at 12 ish , so not too bad.
Right guys. I'M A WINNER!!!!!
I've won 4 tickets to the Globe Theatre in London. Trouble is, my daughter (who was to be the recipient) will be in New York next weekend. boo hiss.
I'm going to call the box office when I get home and see if they can do anything. Otherwise, I'll be on the phone this afternoon to see if anyone I know can use them. I'm so gutted about this , as is she. Hopefully I'll find a home for them.
it would be funny if it wasn't so worrying. I find if hard to believe that so many people in the US have been taken in by him. I worry that education systems in the west have neglected to teach about the fundamental principles of democracy as part of a general education over recent years.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Fairly hideous day here so I doubt I'll be venturing anywhere - bad enough feeding the birds. I heard the wind and rain battering the windows half the night, so when I woke up, I stayed in bed for a little while.
You're a sucker for punishment Hosta
Shame about the tickets. I'm not surprised by anything that's happeningover the pond - especially after those comments to the BBC correspondent at that press conference recently. If you don't agree with him - yer oot. Land of the Free eh? Dictatorship is all it is.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I'm in the middle of cooking dinner, so haven't caught up yet, but will have a read after we've eaten. Hubby has taken some photos of a helpful someone weeding my strawberry bed. I'll put it on the photo site when he has downloaded it.
Has anyone heard from Bushman lately? I know he was feeling down, but I was hoping he'd be back on line by now.
Morning all. Woken up with yet another snot filled sniffle; well timed as I am hosting 40 beavers at the museum for an "overnight experience". I've still not managed to get an appointment with the GP regarding my fatigue issues so it'll be a few more days before I can try again now.
The electrician was meant to be coming this morning to sign off the electrics ready for the plasterer starting next weekend; he's coming tomorrow instead so at least we've more time to tidy around and do those last few jobs his lordship keeps finding. I really can't wait to wave these brick walls goodbye.
I need to nip to the shops shortly; I always try to avoid the shops on a Saturday but my wages have only just arrived in my bank (pay day is the 20th) and we're running desperately low on the essentials.
Keep safe everyone; if you hear screaming it'll be the ghosts at the museum protesting over the noise.
Clari - I thought you weren't having any more issues with your wages? P*ss poor
You'll run screaming if anyone suggests building a feature brick wall in the garden now!
Pat - looking forward to the pix
I was wondering about B'man too - also DD. She usually pops in and out but I haven't seen her recently. Has Lesley been about too? I wasn't sure if she was down at her parents.
Stinker of a day isn't it Joyce? Even the coal tits have galoshes and waterproofs on....

Rain pouring, wind howling.......an indoors day. Plenty to be done if I can get round to it.
