Funny you say that Pat. There was a horrific ongoing fire incident I read about not long ago. The next day I tried to see how things were happening... no mention of it despite the homes of thousands only the day before looking destined for complete obliteration like hell had opened up.

All of my iris are just starting to pop up. This year I must repot a few as I've two displays that seem to be missing a side each. Monty Don put a picture up on twitter of his in full bloom. I did ask if his are sheltered / greenhouse / heated or whether that's just a true representation of how delayed our seasons are up here.

Interestingly however there are some coming up on the lawn that I'm convinced I won't have planted (they're right in the dogs flight path) and an empty pot that I've been using to dump spent compost in whilst in the greenhouse (and so has never been watered, or fertilised, or treated with an tender loving care) is currently full of very healthy green leafs. I'm curious as to what they will turn out to be!

Keep safe everyone. Time for our morning stroll (once I've w

    Morning all.

Right, which is worse? no sleep or sleep filled with hideous, disturbing dreams? Anyway, I feel like plap.

Froggies are up and about already.

    Morning all.

    Friends to lunch today.

Maybe you just don't need much sleep Hosta. If you just relax and don't worry about it (easier said than done) do you think you'd feel so tired? My 1st OH only needed 4 hours a night. I was the tired one as he sometimes wanted to talk to me!

Heavy frosts this morning but sunny and creeping up above zero now.

We're off to a vide greniers/brocante at Fontenay-le-Comte today so doggies will be left with a marrow bone to chew and the kittens will just have to play indoors till we get back.  It's supposed to be a beautiful village/town so we'll have a wee explore too and lunch.

Have a good time today Busy.  I hope the enjoy your feast.

My sleep was disturbed at 5:30 by Cosmos deciding he absolutely needed to curl up in my hand like he did when he was little.  Far too big now so lots of wriggling and purring like a train.

Busy may be right Hosta.  Instead of lying there wishing your were asleep maybe you should go and curl up with a good book or film somewhere cosy so you can doze off it you need to but not sit there worrying about not sleeping.

Have a good day all.  I hope your weather is kind for your projects.

Morning all/afties Pat - are we last on your list for chatting then? I'm 'black affronted' image

I find that's often the case - a big story dominates the headlines, then suddenly - nothing. You don't get a follow up or any updates, even when it's something that must be ongoing for quite a while. It's very irritating.

Oh Hosta - I sympathise. I fell asleep on the settee last night - till half two. Then I was awake till half four. I've had more sleep than usual, but I know i'll feel worse today than if I'd gone to bed and got a normal night and up at seven or earlier. Perhaps there's something in BL's suggestion though....perhaps try to 'forget it' alittle, if you can, and start from there. Have you thought of hypnotism? I'm not one for those things, but many people find it helps for lots of issues.

Forecast's rubbish for walking - fog, then mist , then back to fog  pretty much everywhere except the north east. I'll just have to do a low level walk (which I hate) or do some garden stuff. Or, horror of horrors, h****work image

I thought I'd said that an hour or so ago but it seems not image

Sorry you had bad dreams Hosta , not hordes of marauding amphibians was it image  ((hugs)).

Unusually OH is working today to cover for a colleagues leave. Not sure what I'm going to do ... If the weather perks up I'll spend some time outside ...

    Morning all, afternoon Pat image

Dove, you could measure your planned pergola position! Maybe a sketched design? image

Had an absolute rave last night, curled up with cats watching old Chelsea flower show programs on YouTube. The result being that the cats and I have completed our garden design!.....on paper that is image

It looks amazing in my head! image

Clari, did Reggie 'help' planting the iris? When Flatters was gardening assistant he thought it fun to dig the crocvus bulb out with his paw and thwack it across the lawn!

Hugs for Hosta, all I can say is I sleep when I'm tired...if I'm not tired, I don't try....just frustrates. Take it out on the garden, hopefully you will sleep like a babe if you follow that with a good dinner image

  • Hosta, I too think BL is right. I'm a believer that your body knows what it requires.

My hubs is a 'sleep worrier' and if he doesn't get at least 7 hrs.......well.....he stresses about it all day!

For me I'm more than happy to get 5hrs....but even that is segmented. Having children changed my sleep pattern many moons ago. Sleeping alot lighter so as to remain aware of things through the night.

Worrying about it during the day is definitely not going to help your sleep. As you aged you often need less .I find that if I can't 'drop off ' fairly quickly then I get up and busy myself with something as I feel that my body is telling me it's not ready/ in need of sleep just yet.

I know ( from my experience with hubs) that  the inability to get a ' full night's sleep' can be a worry and this in turn can lead to it dominating your waking hours..........try not to let it and listen to what your body is trying  to tell you.

Have something on standby, a book, DVD, ....mine are , colouring books, online jigsaws ( there are some lovely garden ones!) ,Suduko and Mahjong, these are online as well. Have you tried playing some very soothing music......that's also a winner for me .Never get to hear it reach the end!  Zzzzzzzzzz!!

    Have a good day x
