Well done Hosta. I hope Pat's OH found his GPS. Well done him for fire fighting.
Cheer up Chicky, I expect the flown the nest will come home to visit and you and OH will get more time together. How many more Chicklets are there still at home?
I found the sheet of polycarbonate from the GH, that blew off in the gale. It was in the wood beyond the winter paddock. It is now pouring.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I have managed to read back, all very interesting, well done Hosta. Sorry to hear so many are suffering from the lurgy, seems to be particularly bad this year.
Yesterday I had a meeting at (she says positively) at what will be Chateau de Gateau with the builder. He was very positive about the ability do do the work without breaking the budget and came up with an ingenious solution to solving the problem of being a bathroom short, a solution which is actually cheaper than Plan A too.
Last evening I went to supper with some friends, I hadn't wanted to go and the weather was really windy earlier in the day (probably same storm as Lizzie's) so I had an excuse to cancel, but I stuck with it, starting to feel a bit of a recluse/agoraphobic and thought I need to bite the bullet and get over this before it becomes a problem. Anyway, I had a lovely time, the food was delicious, all home made, served beautifully and the couple are so friendly and supportive and I had a super evening. So glad I made the effort.
Today I have a few jobs I have to do, nothing too taxing but enough to give me some focus and this afternoon I am going out to do my 'long run' of the week, that marathon is coming up fast. (April 9th). Then this evening, I will snuggle up and watch TV with a clear conscience.
Have a good day all, get well wishes to all feeling under the weather.

Sorry I've been AWOL again, won't go into it but life is dumping a bucketload from a great height over me again! character building eh Dove!
The lettuce mystery is that all the kebab shop owners buy them from cheap supermartmets....don't think kebab shop owners shop at waitrose so think you will be OK Hosta!
Despite the forecast, there is a little sunshine out there so I'm planning on walking a coffee around the garden and looking at spring shoots in a while. Snowdrops have shown their heads but not opened, crocus are peeping through and haven't dared show any colour yet and I could really do with seeing signs of spring!
Thank you everyone for positive thoughts when Flatters went missing, soppy I know but as a country girl living in a town, those cats are some of my only friends...and you lot!
I hope everyone has a lovely day whatever your all up to
Can I move in with you Joyce? Still grey and dismal here, and so is the weather...
Dove - once ropes are involved - it's a no from me
chicky - I happened to see a documentary thingy last year about Gordon Aikman, which is why I knew about him, and it was desperately moving. Diagnosed at 29. We never know do we? It's a vile disease.
Can I send my two off with yours? I can't get rid of them
I might try and get out locally again and stretch the legs. I could combine it with a visit to the nursery, but that might be bad idea. I've just paid the car and household insurance
Good to hear your news DD. Glad things are progressing with the 'Chateau'. I know what you mean about making an effort - I'm very bad at that, but making plans to walk and getting out is the answer for me. Finding the right answer is the tricky bit!
Good to see you Wonks, even if life's getting on your wick
You're right about 'Lettucegate' - that seems to be part of the issue. World's gone mad.....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
DD - you have my sincere admiration - you're doing really really well Absolutely mean that!
Wonky - good to see you - wish I had a magic wand ((hugs))
Friend's husband had MND
The sun is shining here too and the feeders are covered with acrobatic goldfinches - as soon as I stop coughing I'll be out there tidying up the grasses and other perennials and making room for new plantings - until then OH has banned me from going out in the cold and damp so all I can do is make plans and then keep changing my mind
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I've been watching the birds too - Mr and Mrs Blackie were in. Think it's my pair (or at least him -Denzel) from last year, or do they have new 'laydees' each year?
The other one has a funny shaped head so I know he was here last year. Haven't got a name for him yet. He was on his own....
I made a donation to Gordon's fundraising page. I figured since I haven't schlepped up to Braemar today, I've saved twenty quid on petrol. Least I can do eh?

Been blowing a hoolie here all afternoon but a lot less rain than I'd hoped for and now the sky is clearing again. Hope you hang on to your furniture Busy.

Wisley was lovely - restored my sense of optimism Lots of changes afoot though.
Came home with a cornus kousa China Girl (big excitement, its been on my wishlist forever), a couple of nandina firepowers, and a collection of cornus Annies Winter Orange .....a pretty good haul
Inspired by yesterday's taster lectures (aimed at littlest Chicklet, but I got caught in the crossfire) I have decided that when I retire I'm going to do an OU degree in English Literature. That, and the garden, should keep me out of mischief
Hope you don't get battered by the storm Lizzie .....and there are only 2 chicklets

Oh dear, the howling gale is starting up again. Maybe we were in the eye of the storm. And I'd put the garden furniture back.
Been blowing a hoolie here all afternoon but a lot less rain than I'd hoped for and now the sky is clearing again. Hope you hang on to your furniture Busy.
Afternoon all.
Home from day 1 back at work.
Overtime driving tomorrow in afternoon / evening and work again Tuesday at 8am. I'm not used to this sort of nonsense.
