Lg the L, I'd love to share them, but I don't think they'd get through quarantine and travel distance. I grow the pale green Lebanese type, not the dark green ones. Can even eat then raw in salads.
Sorry to hear you've caught the dreaded lurgy Punkdoc. It sound a vicious one. I hope it doesn't find its way to Aust next Autumn/winter. Sorry you've had a reversal Dove.
Hosta; I'm told the restriction on icebergs is because restaurants and cafes are finding that in some cases the supermarket is cheaper than wholesale and so have been trying to empty shelves.
How true that is I don't know.
I managed some sleep last night, it's gloriously sunny and I so want to be in the garden BUT my back is so tight the things I want to do I can't. The daffodils are appearing and so are the weeds!
But good news everyone! I invited the plasterer to check things over this morning. In front of his lordship we booked a starting date... first weekend of March.
I'm putting a fiver on right now Clari - don't let me down....
What odds am I getting though?
I heard that about the restaurant owners too. Wouldn't be surprised. Lots of supermarkets were practically giving away veg at Christmas time - presumably as loss leaders to get punters into their shop as opposed to the discount places. 'We', as consumers, have created this stupid situation because we want to eat kiwi fruit or strawberries or pak choi in January. We should be eating in season and then it would all stop. When you consider how much food gets thrown out too....
LG - never mind the toads - it's those bonking rabbits that we have to worry about. Eating our carbon footprint lettuce...how very dare they....
doc - at least you have something to watch on TV
I've been looking out at the hail and sleet and having to resort to doing hoovery things, cleaning and sewing, while catching up with Fortitude. It seems to have gone off now though.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Afternoon all. Just got internet back. Presumably the strong winds last night damaged lines as well as causing power cuts. No other damage here but there are trees down on the regular walkies route, according to OH. I'm still on boring foot rest and have been snuggling kittens and dogs and doing a bit of knitting.
It's bright and sunny now and feels quite warm so I've sown some spring onions in my last available window box. I shall have to find some more containers to do some successional sowing. Plenty of lettuce in the supermarket yesterday but not a lot of the ready washed bags of salad. We tend to have either soup or salad for lunch depending on temps but otherwise stick to seasonal, local veg.
Fingers crossed for your plastering Clari and Chateau Gateau plans for DD.
Stay warm and safe everyone, especially lurgy sufferers. Hope you haven't had any serious damage in the storms Busy.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Ooh, thanks Fairy - I'm not even a northerner, but try to keep my Hertfordshire roots well concealed. I'd love to be a Scot... my dad very nearly chucked in his safe Civil Service job in London when I was little, in order to set up a raspberry farm in Perthshire with his best mate. In the end he opted for the secure option and stayed where he was. He always regretted it a bit though, I think.
Sorry you're now lurgified as well, PD.
Hope BL has survived her storm!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Strange isn't it Liri, how our lives could have been very different. My dad was a Londoner, and met my mum up here in the Isle of Man while he was there playing in the band he was in at the time, and she was on holiday. He never went back. He loved Scotland's scenery, although he wasn't a walker or anything, but perhaps that's why I love the hills so much too. Perthshire is prime fruit growing country - especially rasps. Our climate suits them. I can see why your dad might have regretted it a bit. Funny to think you could have been born up here instead. I'd always assumed you were a Northern lass though, and I suppose I could have been a Southern one if things had turned out differently
It's brightened a bit now Joyce, but not sure how long for...

I've now lived twice as long in Yorkshire and Northumberland as I lived in the south, and have an "unplaceable" accent - a bit of all sorts I think. Yes, it's odd how things turn out...

Afternoon all, Have been lurgied too over the last few days. Feeling better now. Have been looking after grandson for three days so lots of cuddles no problem as his dad has a cold too. Lovely sunny day here, have been tempted into the garden and pruned the wisterias. Have also cleared a border of leaves and dead foliage. Lots of snow drops out and daffs pushing through. The winter honeysuckle is full of flowers and the camelias are covered in buds. It's really cheered me up.
Hope you are feeling better Dove and glad that flatters has reappeared.

Anyone wanting to run a book on this?
Clari, you might make enough to pay the plasterer

Fairy, a short drive SW and it's dry and bright.
I'm going into the garden while OH has his diet of sport on TV,
