Lovely sunny start making the frost all sparkly but now it's gone foggy.
Another interesting night. Minstrel is in full song again this morning and half way thru the night too. How long does it last? OH is still in bed!
Xmas dec dismount today and then a raid on the SM. No gardening today and frosts set to last all weekend. Our neighbours tell me there wasn't single frost last year and she left her big pelargonium tubs outside all winter. They won't survive this lot tho. Brrrrr!
Hope the museum sleepover goes well Clari.
Pat - I love banana cake but will have to wait for a few kilos to disappear and then a real oven to be installed before I bake one.
PP - At 10 years old it took me 18 months to knit a baby jacket at primary school and then I gave up till I took to knitting scarves when I was recuperating from new feet 3 yrs ago. I do not understand instructions for anything shaped - all Greek to me - and I had to google and ask for translations when I progressed to a lacy scarf stitch. I think one winter is probably too short for a jumper anyway. Now I have a daylight lamp I shall probably go back to embroidery. Can't just sit and watch TV and not do something.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

sorry to hear that's lot have the dreaded cough that is doing the rounds the moment . My dad has it and as he is almost 92 it's a bit of a concern.
I love to knit , but haven't much call to now. I have just finished a cuddly toy Elephant for my soon to arrive great nephew. I'll try to post a pic later. It was shown in just plain grey, so I changed the colour scheme to make it more interesting.....I hope!
Pat have you checked out Knitting Pattern Central ( under toys)?
OH has just surfaced and is taking the dogs out leaving me with a singing Minstrel and carrot and ginger soup both on the bubble, so to speak. I have advanced her op to next Thursday cos by the 24th she'll probably be in heat again and we need our sleep.
It feels a lot colder now the fog has descended. Brrr!
Another reason I don't knit is that woolly jumpers make me itchy and angora in anything is a nightmare. Cotton yarn seems fiendishly expensive but I found some on sale at just 3€ to make my latest and possibly last scarf. I shall have to master the overlocker and make fleeces instead.

Painful coughing all night, again. Feel very slightly more human this morning though, and am determinedly not doing anything. Which is very frustrating, but I need to kick this thing. I did the school run and filled the bird feeder before downing tools, so am enjoying watching robins and various tits come for their scran.
Decorations (and tree) still up, taunting me.
From a distance, Minstrel's antics are very amusing. I'm sure they're not so entertaining in the middle of the night!
It was very very frosty this morning, everything white. But I've just realised it's all completely gone (it didn't defrost at all yesterday). Must be warming up out there.
Good luck with the sleepover, Clari.
Anyone heard if Hosta's arrived safely?

Hi all.
One of those horrible winter's days, cold and grey.
Wasted half a day in outpatients yesterday, sad to say the NHS is really struggling.
On a brighter note, am starting to think what I might need for holiday.
A day for seed organisation and plant catalogue perusing.
Have a good one.

Lantana, if you want to see more photos of our place, I did put some on the Garden Gallery thread a couple of days ago.
Obelixx, the banana cake was very good, but as you say, not good for the tummy shape.
Flowers, I haven't tried that one, but will do, thanks. I've written out the pattern that Pansy posted.
I do lots of knitting. It's one of my favourite relaxations.
