Morning all. -9° this morning, frost, forecast says strong winds are coming and then it will rain and be much warmer.
Going to see small grandsons this afternoon. 2yr old will be cake making at nursery and parents are invited for tea, but my son and DIL work so I will go instead. Their Nanny will stay with the 1yr old as he has a sleep in the afternoon.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
-2C at 8:30 but I wasn't there to see it. Was awake for most of the night and didn't fall asleep till after 6. There is a fresh breeze blowing so I'm staying tucked up except for a raid for fresh veggies for some soup.
Raided a Vietnamese shop yesterday and picked up goodies for the lunar new year on Saturday - cooking with Possum - but still no spring onions. I shall just have to sow some for future cooking.
Glad you had a good birthday surprise DD and hope you get some good advice for you future café.
Hosta -enjoy your day of blobbing.
PDoc - good luck with the maths! Not my forté at all tho basic geometry comes in handy for up and down sizing cake tins for recipes.
Dove - enjoy your day away and the feast.
Busy - 2yr olds baking? Sounds like great fun. Enjoy.
Keep warm and dry everyone except Pat and Glenys who need to stay cool.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Pancakes? I thought Chandeleur was next week. Similar goings on in Belgium when Possum was in Maternelle from 30 months on. Really good system for socialising children and facilitating working parents.
I didn't work - except part-time for OH occasionally - but it didn't take long for Possum to decide she wanted to be at school all day please mummy and not just mornings..

I had some timber delivered today and got chatting to the nice driver chappy.
His lorry has one of those grab thingies which can lift pallets up and over and crane them into position..... Can we see where we're heading???
" How much can that lift?"
" about 2 tons"
" do you think you could stretch that arm over there and move that rock by about 2m? "
" let's have a go"
Bish bash bosh. IT'S MOVED!!!!
I plan to jack it up a bit higher ( I've left a sleeper under one edge) and put 2 lengths of sleeper underneath as I plan to mulch this area to lose the dip which is there at the moment. I'm soooooooooooooooooo thrilled.
Too flippin' cold to take photos, but I'm hoping to finish it tomorrow.

Hi all.
This is going to take a while to get used to. Woke up to fog and minus 2, have been used to blue sky and 27 degrees.
In my absence the greenhouse seems to have suffered, did you have high winds while I was away?
Have spoken to the OU and I will need to do a maths test before I would be able to start my Astrophysics, that might be interesting!
Will spend the day looking at how we might do Japan.

It's pre-school so 2 1/2 - 5 yr olds, but I expect the teacher will do the cooking and the children will stir. Pancakes too.
