Wow! That sounds great, Hosta. You obviously know how to chat up crane drivers...
Afternoon all! Busy day here so I've only just opened the computer. Been discussing what to prune with the organiser of "Incredible Edible Todmorden". I'm taking over all their fruit tree pruning, having offered to help in the autumn; their regular "pruning lady" is in hospital, and unlikely to be up to the task in the future. It appears there are 30-40 fruit trees in various places in the town, and countless soft fruit bushes, so I may have my work cut out... looking forward to it, though.
My "Mara des Bois" strawberry plants were delivered today, but the frost hasn't lifted - I've just scraped the leaves off a sheltered corner and heeled them in for the time being. Never grown these before but I believe they're scrummy!
Astro-physics, eh, Punkdoc? Respect!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Back from the nursery school party. We all sat on mini chairs around a low table in the classroom - Mummies, a couple of Daddies and a couple of Grannies, some older brothers and sisters and the littlies. The cakes the children had helped make in the morning were Galette des Rois, big frangipane tarts, they were very good, lots of almondy frangipane and we had fruit drinks too. Small grandson and I had two slices each, don't know how he managed, I felt quite full and he asked for a third slice! Didn't get it though.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Glad your driver was cheerier and more obliging than the miserable git that delivered my gravel last year. I doubt he'd have moved anything if I'd asked him
Looking forward to some pix then. I like a 'fissured fern'...couldn't eat a whole one....
We had frost this morning, and more due tonight as it was only just the right side of zero when I came in at 5pm. Nothing major though, minus one or so. Bit of scraping required, but we arrived at work in time to see the sun coming up over the fields. Fairylet took a pic with her phone. We just missed the sun being at it's reddest unfortunately, but it was pretty.
Good luck with that Liri - you're a glutton for punishment!
Talking of gluttony - roast beast in the oven for dinner.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Well done on the rock Hosta, great result you little charmer you.
Sounds like a fun day at the nursery BL.
I've been teaching all day today, I love it but do feel drained afterwards, relaxing night tonight for me, hoping to stay awake for Forgotten but bearing in mind we are an hour ahead of the UK I might not make it.
I do hope you are all ok and once again thanks for kind wishes and support. I'll keep you posted how my meeting goes tomorrow. Have a good evening all.

Joyce, you'll love it. It's been rotated through 90 degrees to show off some little ferns which are growing form a fissure on one side.
