Possum - 22 next week - talks about us expecting her to produce grandchildren but we have no such expectations.  It's her life, not ours.  She says she doesn't want to marry and will adopt kids.  I think she needs to have fun, travel, meet people, have a career etc.

Cosmos is up at the TV, fascinated by Sherlock but we are not.  i'm finding it all very tedios and self-indulgent.  What's wrong with a proper mystery instead of the all the fantasy crap?   Now even Cosmos has given up now and come for a snuggle.

The best organs I ever saw are at Blackpool Tower ballroom.  We went for a tea dance a few years ago and the music is provided by two organists working in half hour shifts on separate organs.  One organ goes up and down thru the stage and the other goes back and forth horizontally.   During the change over they both play the same tune in sync.   It's amazing.

That Sherlock episode... ?!?! Thought I was watching a Dr Who does The Crystal Maze 'special'!

Not sure what Sir Doyle would make of it all...

Don't know that I was expecting to have so many! Christmas and birthdays are getting expensive! But they are lovely, each one different which helps you to remember their names.

But yours sounds very special, Paula, after such a long wait.

Evening all. This talk about grandchildren has reminded me of my genealogical searches. With mitochondrial DNA, it has to be passed down through the female line. So looking at my mothers' family, there were 5 girls and 6 boys. Following her sisters, they mostly had boys, except for two girls I think. My mother had 2 girls, I had 2 girls, who both had a boy. My sister had one of each, so her daughter had 2 boys and one girl. That girl has now produced 2 boys.  I realise you're all getting confused, but the upshot is that if my sisters granddaughter doesn't produce a girl, my mother's female line has ended. Interesting to see how these things die out.

That should send you all to sleep.image

ive an appointment to see a new psychologist today, since the one I was seeing has decided to only work in Canberra and Queanbeyan and not have his weekly visit to here. It'll be interesting to see if I can relate to her like I did to him. image

    Oops!

I've got two daughters,  and my sister has one, so I guess our female line has a chance of continuing for a while yet. Who knows. My other grandmother had 3 boys, and her sister had no children, so that side's line is long gone. Have I understood?

Best of luck with the new psychologist.

Might as well say a VERY early 'Good morning' to everyone else. Am going back to bed now in the hope of getting to sleep this time.

Sorry LG the L. I didn't check back in because I assumed everyone would be asleep.

i think you've got it right. It only relates to the female line (mitachondrial DNA). In the case of Mums line, you'd think that being one of 11 kids, 5 of which were female, that grandma Grieves would have kept hers going, but I think there is very little chance. My sisters granddaughter is the last chance from my Mum. image

Ps, one of your grandmothers is from your father's line, so that doesn't come from the female line. image

    Happy birthday HRH!

Desperately clinging on to the duvet for a few more minutes before I trudge out in the dark and wet to work. I am not a fan of dark mornings. Neither are OH or the dother judging by their snoring. I'm not sure why I bother making him a mug of tea in the morning to drink in bed. it's always cold before he even looks at it.

Pat; I hope you settle into a routine with your new psychologist quickly. It must be so disruptive to start working on things with one for them to abandon you.

90 children in today and scouts tonight. I am armed with my anti bacterial gel!
