That's useful to know Obx and Liri. I have narrow ear canals (apparently image) so my ears always get really bunged up when I have a cold. Will try those techniques as soon as one starts next time.

    Thanksimage

Liri - re your Chromebook. I don't have one so I don't really know what I'm talking aboutimage - but a quick Google suggests that some chromebooks have a reset button. This is usually a small hole into which you insert something like a paperclip and  press down. Many phones and tablets have a similar button.

This action should reset your Chromebook without any loss of data.

Afternoon - we've just been on an adventure image. mrC fancied walking somewhere different so we drove over the border into Sussex and followed instructions downloaded from t'internet.  Really good going somewhere new - we passed a lake called Furnace Pond which was an ironworks in the 1600's before industrial revolution when the foundries all went north.  Ths one would have been waterpowered.  Fascinating .....and I now know why one of our local roads iscalled Hammer Laneimage

Mr C misread the crucial bit of the instructions, so the promised 5 miler turned out to be 9 - I now have aching tootsiesimage

Sounds interesting Chicky. I don't get walking just for the sake of having a walk - but I do like to walk to an interesting historical site.

Mr TB's walks often turn out to be a bit longer than the promised 'about 3 miles' - '45 minutes max' - 'whatever'. Fall for it every time image

Any wrong turning / miscalculation / getting lost is always referred to here as "the scenic route" - whenever my Dad suggested taking the scenic route we all signed and knew something had probably gone wrong. Especially if it was already dark when he suggested it...

Was it Lesley who was asking about slow cookers the other day?

Decided it was time to get mine out and start practising. Shin of beef has been casseroling for the last couple of hours for tomorrows dinner. All tips re added flour and reduced liquid followed and the house is now starting to smell yummy.

    Thanks for the ideaimage

Should have said, repeat massage 2 or 3 times a day as needed.   If your sinuses are bunged too, you can "hammer" your forehead and temples and then sides of nose and cheek bones with the tips of your fingers (not if you have long nails!) and then do circular massage of the same areas followed by the ear thing.  It all helps loosen stuff up and change pressures.

Love a walk with interest but also do walks just with doggies.  Back in 1989 when we both worked long hours and had no dogs I took OH up to the Lakes cos he'd never been.  He bought a book of walks to follow and before I knew what was going on I was up Great Gable.  All very well but not dressed for fell climbing!    Glorious summer day so Hush Puppy lace ups, not fell boots.   He'd only liked at the "half day" estimate but not at difficulty or heights.   Very scenic.   We were both fit but shattered by the end.   Last time I let him select a walk with no supervision.

After we got Rasta we persuaded Possum, then about 13, to come to Durbuy for a morning walk followed by lunch at a brasserie.  She hates walking and it's hilly so we promised her a 4km walk but accidentally on purpose took a wrong turn.   15km later and a good lunch and both slept soundly all the way home.

Been messing with the bathroom unit most of the afternoon and then Rasta needed a bath after a good smelly roll so too late to cook planned dinner of pork and apple casserole with herby dumplings so quick spicy prawns and pasta it is.

Then we need to find a good film or other recording to watch cos I can't stand being shouted at by people "singing" on talent shows.   Only 9 months to the next Strictly.
