phew! Just come back in from watering the pots and those in the greenhouse and turning on the soaker hoses. We've got 39c predicted today and I suspect we're well on the way to reaching that, and it's only 11.15am so far. The trouble is that Fter being out in that heat, and then coming inside to the slightly cooler house, I start to sweat all over in the change. I guess my body knows what it's doing, but it's unpleasant. Have just ducked my head and wrists under the laundry tap.
You brought back memories for my Punkdoc. When I did my BA, I was in my 50s, and very well out of the practice of studying.
Morning all. Hope you're keeping cool Pat. Is it abnormally hot, or is that what you expect in one of your summers ?
Weekend flew by once again. Started working my way through my seed wishlist - a few packets now bought and a few more ordered. Won't be long before the windowsills start filling up - although I'll wait til midFeb before I start the first ones off. My loo roll innard collection is also reaching gargantuan proportions ready for the sweet peas to be started off in very soon.
But first I must put gardening thoughts to the back of my mind......work beckons
Hope you're still snug in your camper Tbird, and that you have a great holiday
Ob; we had the plaster dust when we stripped the plaster from the whole house (4 skips worth). I'm hoping when they put the plaster back on (board and skim) it won't be too bad. Truth be told I'm not expecting the house to be clean til next winter.
Cooking last night I realised... it's so cold in the kitchen that my blended oils have separated! According to the label this happens below 7'C. Well it's been 2'C in there several mornings. This explains why my aloe vera looks so very sad. I'm going to make a small greenhouse for it and hope that it survives and recovers.
Today's day time visitors to the museum have cancelled so I have the building to myself until the evening group arrive (we're closed to the public today). Time for some serious scrubbing to get my education equipment sparkling again.
Morning all and afternoon Pat. . . I think you will be inside with the a/c on.
Clari, I hate to tell you but there will be a fair bit of plaster dust again I had a room done last year, board and skim. Good when it's finished though
Morning all/afties Pat - I won't swap with you even though it's minus 4 here
Been slightly awol as I've not been myself this weekend. Such is life. Today is a new day.
Did my bird watch on Saturday though. It probably helped that it was snowing at the time, but it meant the nuthatches were out in full force. I took a few photos so will put some on later. They aren't the sharpest because of the weather, but it was lovely to see so many of the regulars. Blackies left it a bit late though, with only five mins of the hour left!
Glad you had a lovely time Dove, apart from the hold up etc.
Slightly concerned about chicky's gargantuan loo rolls - or was it just the collection?
Hope it's not too cold for you T'bird - it's fairly chilly up Cairngorms/Braemar way
Haven't really read back but will try and catch up with you all later. Stay warm if you can, or cool if you're Pat
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Damp and grey here and I think it's probably milder than it has been of late, but as I'm still in bed it's hard to tell.
Fairy ((hugs))
I did the Birdwatch yesterday - more birds than previous years and a good range - good to see a greenfinch, lots of blackbirds, a pair of robins, lots of goldfinches and chaffinches but the dunnocks and long tailed tits kept hidden.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Glad you all seem to have had a lovely day. We've been bone idle and are likely to fall asleep on the sofa at any minute.
Its raining here - it seems ages since we had proper rain ...

Darn it! I just typed a long response and accidentally hit the bottom of the screen and lost the lot.
Chicky, I'm not sure, but I feel that this year has been hotter and drier.
Ive been inside with the air con on all day.
Topbird, your trip sounds ideal.
hi everyone.
Sorry Fairy, I hope you feel a bit better.
Good morning all
G'day Pat
