Afternoon all: Reggie and I went for a 7 mile walk with our friend Frank (another rescue dog who is learning how to be a GOOD BOY) this morning. Started very frosty; got quite muddy!
Fortunately I didn't go arse over elbow but only just! Reggie was treated to a surprise bath on our return (oh the betrayal!) and we're now resting on the bed while his lordship cuts the last of the brickwork out for the wiring.
Having spent all day yesterday cleaning the kitchen tonight will involve... cleaning brick dust from the kitchen. Hopefully this week I can clean the whole house as the last of the messy jobs should be done.
I was thinking earlier that I must get your chilli seeds out ready for sowing. It has been a stark reminder looking at the empty isles in Aldi that there are some fruit and vegetables we can grow so easily at home that perhaps we really ought try too. Because at least then we know where our next meal is coming from.
Belated happy birthday Dove - glad you had a good day.
We're away on a mini Scottish tour in our little motorhome. It's very snug - just as well as it was a very hard frost last night & a lot of the roads have stayed icy well into the afternoon. Went to Melrose abbey this am which was lovely.
Having a cuppa watching the sunset at the Forth bridge - OH trying to get some good photos. Edinburgh campsite tonight then we head towards the mountains via a look round Perth & Dunkeld.
Good internet everywhere so far - that will probably change after tomorrow.
Stay safe & warm everyone
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Oh Clarington - brick dust is a nightmare! When we had our kitchen done the brick and other dust seemed to hang around in the atmosphere for days. The builder vacuumed at the end of the day but next morning there was a dusting back again!
Been watching repeats of the Alys Fowler series - great for being inspired to grow fruit and veg. I'm definitely going to grow more veg this year - even if it's just in pots (a-POT-ment!).
Evening all. We've just got back from a walk along the beach with the dogs, sufficiently empty to let them off the elad and play like puppies. Coffee next then bath time for Rasta who is looking like a very grubby woolly bear and needs a haircut.
Possum flies back to Namur tomorrow with 4 new pairs of shoes, boots and trainers and a new pair of jeans after a very successful raid on La Rochelle yesterday so I'm treating her to slow roast shoulder of lamb with lots of garlic and rosemary and a bit of anchovy (but don't tell her that. She thinks she doesn't like anchovies) and roast sweet potatoes cos she hasn't seen sweet potatoes in Namur since Xmas.
Glad you had a good day yesterday Dove. Your trip sounds good too TB.
Clari - just wait till you have to deal with plaster dust! It's finer and lighter and lingers for weeks. Good that you're making progress though.
Pat and Glenys - the heat sounds great to me. Excuse for siestas.
Congrats Yvie. Very impressive. I've lost a bit since Xmas but I suspect none this weekend. Back on the wagon tomorrow then
13C again here this pm and a bit cloudy. Yesterday we had bright sun after fog and also 13C. Good cos my pots all need watering and I haven't dared while we've been frozen. Shouldn't be long before bulbs in the ground start showing their noses.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Miserable day again, so I have been studying. Finding it hard, as it is so long since I last did it. Keep wandering off, or playing games, need to learn how to concentrate again.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Made, ( almost ) 3 bird boxes. Just need to charge my super duper new drill to use the hole making "bit" which is too big for my old drill.
Started clearing in readiness for water lily splitting and then spent a happy wee while clearing storm drains after all the rain we've had ( sorry Pat and Glenys, but I really WOULD swap for your heat)
Yvie , sorry, I meant to congratulate you on your weight loss. Well done you. I've put on about 7lbs over the winter. Given 2 holidays, xmas, etc I'm not unhappy about that. I aim to go below last year's lowest point.
Just done the Sunday-chop of potatoes and veg so will have sausage, mash and roasted veg for tonight, stew tomorrow and any leftovers for bubble and squeak.
All the peelings remind me to restart putting them on the compost, as haven't been venturing out to the composter over Winter.

Afternoon everyone!
Glad you had a good birthday, Dove. Lovely to catch up with old friends.
Topbird, your mini holiday sounds good fun! Melrose abbey is gorgeous, haven't been for years.
Yvie, hello! I wish I had your will power. Could do to lose a pound or two, preferably from round my middle...
Not as wet today as predicted but still a bit on the dull side. But the snowdrops are nearly out!
