Dove, I'm not bunged up at all - this has been much more of a fluey thing than a cold - but I like the smell of Olbas Oil so am thining of adopting your method anyway .

Chicky and Obelixx, thanks for kind and helpful comments re computer. Unfortunately the local shop is closed until Jan 18th, under new management. Son (computer geek) is away for the weekend, and son-in-law (ditto) is away for a week with work... Not sure how to re-boot other than switching off and on again.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
The boiler turned itself off sometime in the night, so no heating or hot water this morning. I tried ringing for a Corgi man, but it's Saturday. OH had a fiddle with it and it's working again. He thinks the pressure is too low, maybe I'll call the chap in the village on Monday.
I've had a relaxing morning in bed reading my book and playing with OH's iPad.
I hope Lily P gets there safe and sound, despite cold and strike.
Waiting for Hosta's next installment!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
LG, we must have different lurgies, I've been very bunged up, quite disgusting! Coughing a lot too. OH has been so sweet, not put off at the awful sight and sound!

Liri - in the bottom left of your screen there should be a symbol of 4 small squares. Click on that and you shut get a new window with a list of your apps. Just above the 4 squares there will be a small circle with a vertical bar at the top. (Power button) Click on that and you get an option to Shutdown.
Your PC should do an orderly shutdown and then turn off. Then you just turn it on again to re-boot. Hope that clears it but do have a look at getting something like Malwarebytes installed to keep you safe.
Ken Hom and Ching-He are on Beeb2 at the mo. I expect their intestine soup is right up Dove's street but I love Sechuan food - nice and spicy. Must do a raid on a Chinese shop.
Busy - hope your heating behaves.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

I can breathe ok with my mouth closed ... but my ears are totally stuffed up and my chest is full of gunk (sorry ) ....... according to OH, the stuffed up drippy nose comes later ... my Olbas Oil tissue is more as a preventative .......
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Dove - there's a massage you can do for bunged ears. First grit your teeth and clamp your jaw and then take an ear lobe in each hand and use them to move your ears in firm circular motions. Then relax your jaw and use your forefinger and middle finger tips quite firmly at first and then more gently to stroke down from behind your ear lobes to the base of your neck for a couple of minutes. Then put your fist under your chin and try and open you mouth while pressing firmly against it with your fist. Then do the opposite - mouth open and chin held while you try and close your mouth.
I was given these as part of a massage routine by a chap who specialised in massages for people with constantly bunged up sinuses and/or glue ear. It all helps change pressures so stuff releases. Steaming with eucalyptus or Olbas oil under a towel helps too.

I believe that sort of massage also works for persistent dizziness from labyrinthitis too. I had a friend at work cured by it.
Thanks for the computer advice, Obelixx. Unfortunately my screen is completely frozen - there's nothing to click on; only the warning message is legible and the "x" on that doesn't do anything - and I had to force it to shut down. I need to find someone local to fiddle with it, I think - I'll do some ringing round on Monday.

Yes, Hazel, yukky. Is yours better now, if so, how long did it take?
OH has gone to get his hair cut so I've got up and come down to have a go at the laptop. I find it easier than the iPad.
