Hi Pat! Any more sign of that snake?? Britain may be cold and wet but at least we don't have much in the way of venomous wildlife...
It's been a good week for bargains. Following my cheap train tickets a few days ago, on my Burnley cat food trip I popped into the RSPCA charity shop and bought 3 nice shirts, then found there was a "Per Una" sale at Tesco where I bought a summer jacket reduced from £29 to £7. And for lunch today we're having roast free-range chicken, £4.14 reduced from £8.27.
I love a bargain...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Still no sign of that darned snake, Liri, but I'm being extra careful and watchful when I go out to the veggie patch. I really hate being nervous all the time out there as it's my favourite place to be. except lounging inside with the dog and air con, of course. We have a prediction tomorrow of 33, then 30 Sunday and 37 Monday. Getting fed up with it. Rain predicted Tuesday - yeah, like I believe that! There is another cyclone heading to the north west, so we might eventually get some from that if it successfully crosses the whole continent diagonally. How long do clouds keep raining before they run out of water? Does anyone know?
Hosta, I can't get over that rock getting moved. You'll have to think of another problem to keep us on our toes.
re. Driving licence tests, I'm already telling Hubby that I'll probably give up when I turn 80 in a few years because I'd have to re-do the driving test. I've had a licence since 1970, and because so many of the road rules have been modified since then and my memory isn't up to learning them all over again. Not a good situation when you live 25km from the nearest shops/town and absolutely no public transport of any kind.
well, I guess since it's nearly 1.40 am on Saturday, I'd better get some sleep. Night All.
Still cold and foggy, so I have been doing some thinking!
I don't know if I mentioned it, but I was asked whether I would like to go to Yemen, to do some more emergency medicine. I have decided that this year I will try to occupy my brain by studying and will not go.
Plant catalogues are now out, going to see what I must have, even though there will not be enough room, unless I enlarge some of the beds, which I promised myself I would not do.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team

I've just realised I wrote 1970. It was 1960.
Back from son's full of roast chicken and chocolate mousse cake. Also a new temporary crown. Smallest grandson has a bad cold.

S.Yorkshire/Derbyshire border
Right, done for the day.
50 odd cubic metres of chippings.
The Rock.
Not bad considering we're supposed to be in The Gambia until next Tuesday.

I really like the rock, plus ferns and moss
Thanks Joyce. I have to say , I'm thrilled with it and look at all that space I've got for new planting.
If you see the other Rock 2 in the background, there was another pine tree there which someone decided to tie up with orange nylon baler twine.NOT ME!
The top snapped off a couple of years ago.
I removed a fence then I put the new path in with the slate chippings last year.
Just saw this and thought of you all: https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/partner-gardens/articles/Days-out-for-snowdrop-lovers (though I expect you know them all anyway).
Back in a bit.
