Hosta - your precious angels - that made me smile  image

I'll be happy either way too - as long as they don't expect me to be babysitting while they're at work. Nae chance! It'll cut into my hillwalking time  image

The finger's ok - thanks all. I should have got on with sewing too, instead of diy-ing. Stupid mare. If I'd used the big scissors it wouldn't have happened.  I've done quite a bit of damage to fingers over the years, including sawing into one with a hedgetrimmer. I didn't want to worry my parents, whose hedges I was doing, and I only had one weekend to do it all, so I taped it all up and carried on. It was fine...really....image

I was wondering if doc was away too but I think it's a couple of weeks yet.

It was a tupperware type of day here yesterday too - great expression! Even the hills have lost most of their snow again. It's not normal...image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Well, that's Monday gone thank goodness, but tomorrow now has a prediction of 37, so I don't know how much plant watering will get done. The tank I use for the veg garden ran our of water today, so dear Hubby walked down to the bore pump and refilled the tank for me (and the plants, of course ). Trouble is. Because the pipes aren't buried, the water in my soaker hoses end up with boiling hot water, so I only give them a water until the temp gets too much. Ho hum. The joys of gardening in summer.

    Night all.

Hello I'm back. Hairdresser agreed to go radical and cut it really really short and I have to sculpt it with paste. She said it's sort of Judy Dench meets punk!  There was more hair on the floor than there is left on my head, and it was pretty short to start with. I luvvit!!! image

The city was full of people with the lurgy so I didn't feel guilty about the possibility of spreading germs. Vicky said she and most of the salon staff had it over Christmas and the new year.

    Glad Hostas enjoying his holiday.

Pat I just couldn't cope in that heat. I would melt!

I've just had a hand delivered letter from the council, stating that someone has enquired about building houses on next door, a planning officer has been round, they noticed the wood and they have slapped an interim tree preservation order on every tree next door. This means I cannot even trim the sycamore that threaten my roof and give the squirrels access.

As Mrs N next door is away at her sons during the mourning period, I think that this was overkill. According to the woman who delivered the letter, I cannot even trim the hazel trees that I usually coppice for bean sticks.

It looks like things will be moving faster than we thought.

Crikey Fidget, that's fast work! Is your house on the market yet? I hope you aren't feeling too stressed.

That sounds really radical, Dove. Won't you get cold? Winter isn't over yet!

I got up really late today, then we've been doing HW in the cottage as we are leaving tomorrow. But I'm feeling really tired and pathetic and legs feel like they have weights on them. Rib hurts. I'm a wimp with pain. Still coughing.

Dove, a radical new hairstyle is good for a change, especially when you like itimage(awful if you don't!!)

Fidget - hope you can find a suitable property soon with sufficient ground for gardening.

BL - a few days rest at home is much needed I think.

Afternoon all. Apparently today is Blue Monday? Fancy me dressing to colour coordinate! Now I just need blue Tuesday, blue Wednesday, navy Thursday and I'll be the height of fashion.

Had some lovely compliments from two teachers today about how well I engaged with the students and kept them captivated during our workshops. Shame the boss wasn't around to hear it! One was amazed when I said I'd never been a teacher but instead used to design oil refineries.

Still engineers and four year olds; nearly the same thing.

Dove I hope your head isn't too cold!

As I am off to scouts tonight I am leaving OH in charge of cooking a meal. There are a host of frozen Pre prepared meals for him to choose from so we'll see what he produces (I've just reheated some lasanges for a late lunch so I'll not starve!)

Fidget: will this affect your house price at all? I'd be tempted to offer the house to any prospective builder to incorporate into their plans at a sky high price. They seem to squeeze a silly amount of homes onto small pieces of land.

We're looking at a couple of properties. Trouble is we are not yet ready for the market. I better get the decorators in.

Maybe Clari is right, Fidget.  If the builder is interested in your plot you won't need to go to the expense of getting decorators in.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Was just going to say that too, Liriodendron! When we sold my dear Grandma's house we debated whether or not to 'do-it-up' prior to marketing and we had a valuation done. Luckily for us the agent knew a couple who wanted any house on this street and aimed to renovate it - so we cut out the fuss of decorating and staging and saved our time and money.

My garden and I live in South Wales.
