Hi I hope everyone will soon start to feel better. For the first time last year i had the flu jab in the April and I had a bad dose of flu, so this year i am going to give the flu jab a miss. I keep a dairy of the rain and what i have done in the garden and 2016 we was down by 325ml, but today we had 11ml in 15mins the windy blew the rain in all directions and then we have had gentle rain since so far today we have had 16ml of rain. I have taken photos of the sky and i will try to upload them later.
I'veheard of the Vicks thing before but thought it sounded bonkers... however I am desperate so might see if OH can pick some up on the way back from work. Will report back.
Meant to say before, lilysilly you've sowed a seed in my brain about leather Converse. It's taking root...
Did school run, felt very shaky and weak. Have had a lemsip and sat down since returning. Day off tomorrow and while I have a gazillion things I want and need to do, I'm going to take Obelixx's advice and try to beat this thing with bedrest. The most frustrating thing is that all the decorations are still up - just don't have the energy to do anything about it. OH can do it at the weekend, but it's the first time I've EVER missed 12th night. Also, I quite enjoy doing it.
Hope you have a good journey, BL. Have a good rest once you arrive.
'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.'
The virus that is doing the rounds is an adenovirus so the flu jab will have no effect. lots of sucky sweets /expectorants/ inhalations, keep warm and plenty of liquids.
If you start wheezing with it, doc can give stuff for bronchitis .
My mum had it before xmas, my sister went bonkers with dettol wipes before 18 of us assembled for boxing day and it seems to have done the trick. Mum sounded like she was tuning bagpipes.
No snowdrops here yet. Ashwood had some prize examples in the alpine house. Anything up to £25 a throw for a small pot with one or two bulbs in. I settle for thousands of the common stuff.
The woodpecker flashed his red bum at me today. I currently have half coconuts stuffed with fat instead of the fat blocks. He struggled to grip, so I may go back to the blocks.
I seem to have acquired half a stone in weight. I bought a couple of crown prince squashes in Lidl, so veg soup is going to be on the menu soon. A bit of ginger root zizzes it up a bit. Only a small amount needed. smaller than a thumb end.
I love snowdrops, and some of those fancies look fabulous, but unless you have a specific area for viewing them, and the time to do that, I'd settle for loads of the bog standard ones too
Nothing worse than flashing woodpecker...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

This is what you all need. It is absolutely vile but I guarantee it will stop you coughing...if only so that you never have to take it again!
ppI I haven't seen that that for years. It does work....vile tasting is true!!
I haven't seen it for years either. What's it's sell by date?
Maybe I'll see if the village chemist has it when we get to Norfolk.
