Lily: I was 13 days late. It'll happen when it happens. Their weather always sounds scary to us but of course they're better prepared for it.
Wonky: NO sign of anything being done on the house today. He has however washed his car (his best mate needs to borrow it) and then washed mine (he needs to borrow it). Alas my little truck (what I'll be using) has been missed but better than nothing!
He's on about going back to the workshop (with said best mate) this afternoon; maybe I need to hide all his pants so he can't leave the house stuff will get done. I have however informed him that he'll be taxiing me tomorrow when I go bowling with people from the museum.
Mind you, can you imagine the moaning I'll have to put up with if he gets things trapped in zips?
Maybe I'll just hide his (or should that be my) keys.
Finished off tidying the strawberry plants today. Was surprised to see a wasp hanging around.
Clari - Like Dove's OH says, playtime has to be earned. You need to find some way to ground him and get some jobs done. I remember when we bought our first house together OH would be out at least one evening a week at rugby practice and then all day Saturday playing and then in the bar. I would spend Saturday cleaning the house and doing washing and take time off to decorate. In summer it was cricket and at season's end they would overlap so he'd be out on Sunday too.
One day the light dawned, discussions had and then cricket stopped, one late pass a month for rugby jollies, seeing friends the other Saturday evenings and we shared the cleaning. You both work all week and have to come to an acceptable compromise on time given to playing and making the house habitable.
Liri - a young couple came back to dance class on Thursday to show off their new baby. He was wearing a pink sleeping bag and is called Gabriel which is most commonly Gabrielle for girls in France. Same pronunciation. Lots of confusion.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Obelixx....I think we all learn when it's it's time to put the foot down and get some help and consideration. OH (poor soul) still asks if there's any work for him to do.
The sun was too nice to stay in and do C decorations.....I pottered outside instead. Encouraging to see lots of bulbs poking through.
Wonky - good to hear you're on the mend but take it slowly
LP - we moved from Coventry to Colchester two days before daughter was due.....certainly got things on the move. Hope you hear soon.
LilyP - fingers crossed for your daughter, who will be more impatient than you. It's not nice being so far away and all you can do is wait and worry. Fortunately I've never waited - with first son being early and second on the date (he's never in a hurry but never late either).
Wonky I'm glad you're feeling slightly better but, as others have said, hang fire. Things can wait or be delegated.
Liri, I found the jigsaws but by a roundabout route. Great pics and I will attempt them at leisure.
Clari - You are his best mate. You're teaching him how to grow up!
The is because I've just submitted my tax return and paid what I owe for last year. Not my favourite job... but I'll be more relaxed over Christmas knowing it's done.
However, it should be tempered slightly with because I've got another cold. Hopefully it's not OH's, which was the cold to end all colds (apparently... no, that's not really fair - it was a stinker, and he's still coughing after nearly 3 weeks). And I've got time to get over it and not be infectious by Thursday, when we go to Ireland. Doesn't bode well for tomorrow's carol concert though, in which I'm supposed to be singing...
Never had flu, for which I'm very thankful. Glad Wonky's improving - don't do too much too soon!
Modern technology never ceases to amaze me... I'm much more of a paper-and-pencil person (and found in my garden design course 20 years ago that paper & pencil was considerably quicker, and gave more attractive results, than the computer design package I was trying to use). However, I've discovered that I can get round my mobile's inability to download its photos, by emailing them to myself, so they end up on the Chromebook. Then I can attach them to messages, and also email them to our new printer... I know this excitement will be incomprehensible to a) anyone my age who understands technology, and b) anyone under the age of 27, but there you are.
Fingers crossed for your Christmas baby, LilyP.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Evening all - it is evening isn't it? Dark enough anyway.
Been outside tidying after going to the POff for a parcel - which wasn't my one. Grrr....Daughter can go and get mine when it arrives then!
I have a nice white hellebore with several buds. Hadn't noticed it because the two grasses it's in beside still have foliage on them. Wouldn't normally have that. Very nice. I've cleared a bit of the grass foliage so that it can be seen.
Clari - I think the others are right. Your OH doesn't seem to be bringing much to the party, while you're in a freezing cold house and making packed lunches for him and his pal etc.... Not fair to you at all.
Hugs to you LP. So much harder when you're so far away. Mine were both late. Took after their father...
Does anyone know - does the ignore button not work with PMs? I seem to have one from someone on my (very short) ignore list. Hmmmm....
T'bird - if you're about - I've PMd you about the CMcNeish programme.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Lesley, glad you found them! Might put some more on soon - reward for doing the tax return

Fairy - any plans for a hill walk tomorrow? If so, the numbers of daylight will no doubt mean not too long a drive.
Lesley, are you the creator of the lovely flower and autumn colour jigsaws on the Jigsaw Planet site?
Fairy...I did, of course, mean the number of hours of daylight.
