  • Afternoon all.  I'm in Crosby (near Liverpool) where OH will be conducting a Christmas choral concert this evening - the choir are currently having a rehearsal, so I've come armed with knitting and Kindle.

Flowers, hope the pain eases soon, and you cope with the enforced rest.  Joining Dove in putting your feet up sounds like a great plan for you both, with or without virtual tipple.

Feet.  Badly designed, I think.  I live almost entirely in walking boots or trainers as anything else is just too painful - flat feet, corns, bunion - you really don't want to know...

Liri    I meant to keep yesterday's Herald but my brother took it this morning.

Are you aware of a possible community "buy out" of the "big house" on the island?

Meant to say Fairy - keeping the feet elevated as much as possible reduces pain which is more from the swelling than the op itself.  I had a special boot to wear which meant the weight was on my heel when I was uprght and that helps a lot too.  In fact, I only needed to take one or two pills of the 2 months' supply of serious painkillers.

I found I could garden after just a month but only bending over or sitting down.  No kneeling as that puts pressure on the wrong end of the foot.

Just had a lovely sunny walk with the dogs but the sun is really low now and setting fast so I shall go and play with the Xmas tree and leave planting for tomorrow.  The bed is on the north side of the house so gets dark quickly, plus some critters - maybe the hounds but maybe not - have been trampling on it so it needs a good rake before anything else can go in..

  • Hello Joyce - thank you, yes, there was a lot of talk about this while I was there.  It's the Laird's house and a beautiful building, but it's listed, so changing its use would be problematic, in addition to which there doesn't - or didn't - apart to be much in the way of a coherent plan for a sensible future for the house...

    Hello everyone,

clari I hope you don't rue the day........bless, does he know how lucky he is?

all those with sore toes etc keep cosy and hope discomfort subsides. Liro you summed it up well, feet are badly designed!

I see there has been talk of multiple passports. Our family in Moscow had unannounced visit from the police this morning demanding (quite forcefully)to see passports and visas. Bit scary, we think it has something to do with all the news today.

The new baby is due next week.  First was born in Hong Kong, this one Moscow. Daughter has duel nationality with Australia as we lived there. It's all getting a bit complicated and the rules for newborns has all changed.  To top it all they are having the coldest Nov/Dec for 50 years.

    i am a tad nervous

Oh Lily that sounds quite scary. I hope this stress doesn't affect baby.

I shall be keeping my fingers crossed for your family that everything sorts itself out.

Had a message from his lordship saying he'll be home soonish. I'll pop the lamb shoulder in the oven shortly. I haven't vacuumed yet since I can't see the point with the house in its current state but I really ought try to keep the dust down.

  • Hi all, especially Clari....(been cooking most of the afternoon, then when hubby was watching football, I gutted out our chicken pen and two coops). Not long put them to bed...(ruined they are, I have to place them inside each evening lol) ???.

Clari, we had a really bad outbreak in the Dordogne at the beginning of the year....apparently it devastated chicken farms....We got to pick w type of chickens we wanted, then once we had the all clear...(April. I think), we went and got ours and so far, everything has been fine. ?. I'm glad as we had friends who lost quite a few and I'm very attached to mine now, all different characters. Ha ha ha, well done you Clari, you get in there and order whatever you like....(tell him he told you to do so when he. Was under the influence) ??
