... having helped me clear the bedroom of any last items that had sought refuge in there he has taken it upon himself to put new floorboards down. Its not quite the installing the electrics I hoped for (after all a plasterer can dodge the creaky boards) but it is a start in the right direction.
It occurred to me that this time last year I was reliant on an outside toilet (with no lights: to make it most fun for midnight tiddles the dog used to accompany me with his light up collar), no indoor facilities.... and we had turned central heating off while the re-plumbing was done.
NEXT YEAR I AM INTENDING ON HAVING THIS HOUSE SO WARM FOR NEW YEARS I WILL BE ABLE TO STRUT IN MY SWIM SUIT*
(*having of course succeeded in the new years resolution of loosing enough weight to fit in said swim suit)
The first of the fire works started at 15:00, the next at 18:00. At this rate there will be non left for midnight! Poor Reggie has had his dinner early and will soon be retreating with me to the bedroom (the one that still has a floor) for an evening of being read too in the hope that we can keep him contented while the world ends around him.
I hope you're all having a glorious evening should that be what you want!
Not long to go now. Dinner is all prepped moscovites spoke to wine coming to room temperature. And we are looking forward to the new challenges 2017 will inevitably bring.
In the meantime a very happy new year to all ?may I also say, as obelixx has, a big thank you to everyone for the friendship and compassion shown to me and my family over the last year. It's a special place this forum and to think many of us have never met. I count myself lucky ro know you all
Enjoy the evening and I will raise a glass as Bushman suggests at the bells?

I echo all warm sentiments for Happy Forkers for 2017.
My first alcohol free christmas for 40 years was a great success so here's to my first New Year's Eve without a drink.
We're off "up country" tomorrow for a couple of days before setting off properly on Tuesday morning.
Wrap up warm all you folk heading out this evening.
First drink of the day, I doubt it will be the last!
Fish pie in the oven, then a quiet night in. Hope Jools Holland has some good music on.
I used to be a big go outer on NYE, now I can't think of anything worse.
Have fun and take care.
