Wot an exciting start to the new year Wonky. Great news.
Work/ life balance crucial ......I like to have a lot of "life" in mine
Not sure what happened today. Its Christmas Eve Eve, and I finished all my cooking and cleaning about 4 o'clock, and have since been sitting with my feet up ......hope I haven't forgotten something crucial/maybe I am getting more efficient in my old age (tick as appropriate)
Dad will be staying in hospital all Christmas - he is much better, but the medics wanted more tests done and it has taken them 5 days to fit them in. But still allowed to pick him up for the day on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and he is really cheerful, so not all bad. Still planning on a bit of time in the place we found for him when they finally discharge him - sort of a halfway house to getting used to going home.
Chicky I'm pleased to hear that your Dad is cheerful and will be able to enjoy Christmas and Boxing Day with family but a shame he's still in hospital. I felt the same as you yesterday and had my jobs completed early. I feel I should be cooking the turkey today.
Wonky congratulations on landing a new job for New Year. It sounds as though you will be appreciated there.
Hope no-one needs to visit the shops today and can stay warm and sane
Good morning all. I have a few errands to run but nothing major. OH has just left to pick up Possum at Nantes airport and I just have the bathroom to clean and then can nip out and get the last bits and pieces.
We made up Possum's bed yesterday and put fairy lights in her room and dug out a couple of her old teddies and then found the kittens snuggling up to them. Sweet.
Congrats Wonky. I hope it works out well and you'll be able to potter in your own garden and enjoy it. Do you get to keep the hobnailed trainers?
News reports of horrendous winds oop north so I hope all are safe and in one piece and everyone gets themselves and their family where they should be. It's very calm here and set to stay that way.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Hope everyone is well/ on the mend and that all pre ' the big day' preparations are going as planned.
We are feeling quite chilled here as everything is ready. Hubs has done a marvellous job of shopping for all last minute items. I am hobbling around a bit more now , dressings were changed yesterday and all looks good. Must say that I was surprised at the size of the wound, much bigger than last time so that maybe why it's given me a bit more 'jip' this time around
Neighbours have a little lunch time do, so looking forward to that later and then hubs is poised for pickup duties as our brood start to arrive.
Once again I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and peaceful New Year.
Still a bit blowy but, other than that tree down in the nearby road, there's no obvious damage here. The next one's coming on Monday but I think it's the far north and the islands that are getting it. Sky's very black and there's a lot of hail/snow filled clouds - certainly chilly enough for it, three degrees when I went to feed the birds. Sleety rain just now.
Best of both worlds for your Dad chicky. Out to enoy your company and a nice dinner, but safely back in hospital to get the care he needs to get well. Sending our fairy love to you all xxx
Just heard that Carrie Fisher has had a heart attack. Hope she is alright. We don't need any more well loved people leaving us in 2016.
Cute obelixx. I had two kittens (brother and sister) when I had my first flat and they slept cuddling each other and one of my childhood cuddly toys.
Don't envy your OH Dove. Hope the customers aren't fighting over the giblets. Daughter is also working today, till 8 tonight. Her dad's job to collect her though. Even she was open mouthed at Hosta's story about the turkey rejecting f***y. Wonder if he found a suitably 'large' one for his requirements. Is it uncharitable to hope he didn't? ....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Chicky; sorry to hear your dad is still in hospital; glad he's escaping for the big day though. I hope the tests find everything acceptably healthy.

Dove: did I tell you the book arrived? I hope I did! I am saving it for post Christmas reading while the rest of the family is snoozing

Morning all/afternoon Pat
I think we had our share of "Barbara" during the day yesterday as it was a fairly quiet night.
