We are going on holiday afterwards. Going to our Norfolk cottage on 6th January for peace and quiet.
Glad the man has been dealt with who drove the lorry in Berlin. Sounds a hard thing to say, but he has ruined the lives of the people he killed and their families. That sort of fanatical person would do it again. The taxpayers would pay for him to be kept in prison and he would probably prefer to die than be in prison anyway.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I hope those who had problems and illnesses have a better New Year.
Loved hearing about your Kookaburra Pat. We watched a bird display that featured a kookaburra and they were throwing a rubber snake in the air when he swooped down and took it into a tree. Does your bird kill any of your snakes?
I've not seen them catch snakes, but I assume they do. They are quite large compared to the little finches and robins etc. they're bigger than Ravens. We were really amused and surprised that the Kooka didn't turn on the willy Wag tail.
In Jan 2001 we stayed with friend sin Manley Heights. There was a kookaburra nest outside the guest room window. Not a lovely dawn chorus. I could have throttled it!
Glad you're feeling cheered Pdoc.
Still not feeling Xmassy but I have set up a stereo in the dining room now so we can have music to set the mood if we need it. Just need to finish the cleaning and put all the candles and last of the decs out. At this rate, I shouldn't be feeling too twitchy about them all by 12th night.
Glad they've got the Berlin criminal. So much better than teh expense and publicity of a trial and the costs of prison too. Finger prints match so it seems they have the right man but what about his accomplices?
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
I've managd to attach the little outside lights when there was a bit of a break in the rain. To be honest, we've had worse weather, so unless it's going to be deteriorating further as evening comes, we've not had it that bad. No damage, just wild and very wet, with stronger gusts of wind and sleet/hail. Snow and sleet forecast for later though.
Beyond thrilled earlier though, as I had two nuthatches visiting the feeder while I was putting up more lights and greenery. That's made my Christmas
I'm easily pleased....
doc - I read your post and just thought, what a contrast between your post and Hosta's one earlier in the day. I know which people I'd want in my house at Christmas. The greed and selfishness that some of us in the so called 'developed world' have, and the bubble they live in, is exposed right there.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Right, that's the last of this week's woodchip moved. Just in time as the rain has just started and the wind has certainly got up.
Cuppa finished, the rest of the pot to go. Who was it who recently said you can have too much tea?? Pah.
Woodburner is all set to light when I get in.
Will set Corry and Last Leg to record before I go and that's my chores done. Just the small issue of Waitrose to deal with now.
Punkdoc. I hope you and Mrs P have the most wonderful Christmas and holiday.
