Awful news - makes you weep. Don't feel very Christmassy this morning... but the sun is shining and the birds are singing; sometimes I can't help feeling the world would be a happier place if People weren't in it.
However, there is a heartwarming story on my local Facebook chat site about a woman in Rochdale who's raised over £400 on a "Just Giving" page for a local homeless guy, who doesn't beg but shines shoes on a Rochdale street. He's polite and friendly - just became homeless through circumstances, like a lot of folk. There are plenty of good people around, trying to make things better.
Time to pull my socks up and get wrapping presents, I think.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Aaargh! I have problems on my laptop - it's not well - I think I'm going to have to take it to Wonky's Lovely Hub over the Christmas hols!!!
In the meantime OH says I can borrow his laptop 'when he's not using it' and otherwise I can pop in on my phone .... good job I've got 'stuff to do' over the next few days.
Right, wreath making here we come .............
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Like I said, I've given up on the morning news. Can just about cope with all the misery and stupidity in the evening but not at the start of the day. So sorry for everyone dealing with misery, especially when inflicted by someone else.
It is grey here again and still dry, so dry I have the sprinkler on the newly cleared, composted and planted silk tree bed. Soup for lunch and then we're off to La Rochelle for the Xmas markets and abit of Xmas shopping for Possum prezzies.
I have got as far as cleaning the window behind where the Xmas tree will go but that's it. Still not getting the Xmas vibe.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Obelixx - I understand what you mean about the morning news, but in a way I prefer it (rarely see the news later )because I can then count my lucky stars that I don't have that kind of grief in my life on a daily basis. My heart goes out to the family of the poor soul who was driving that lorry to start with. They must be beyond devastated.
You're right Liri - people cause all the trouble in the world.
Pat - I think it was fondant icing - daughter made those a few years ago. There would have been some royal or glace icing for doing the little squiggles etc, and she had various pots of glitter and 'sand' (edible ) for some of the effects.
Hosta - we were talking about that at work last week. The amount of food that will be chucked is dreadful. People simply buy too much, and then they either over indulge, or throw it away.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Has anyone tried gift wrapping a dung fork, a hay fork, a garden hoe and a leaf rake? The secateurs were easy enough, the shears slightly more complicated, the book on vegetable gardening was a doddle. Easy to guess that daughter and SIL have moved to the country after 8 years of living in town.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
BL - when Christmas is approaching I accumulate cardboard boxes and corrugated paper in the garage. It's easier to wrap awkward shaped presents if they're in a box

Fairy, Hubby wants to know what kind of icing you used on the lovely Christmas Biscuits.

Thanks Fairy. He thought it might be Royal. Rather impressive.
Lovely this morning beside the canal. (The figurehead in the houseboat has rosemary for hair!)
Lovely photo, is that a watermill?

Liri - that's a beautiful scene

BL , I did a garden hoe. What I did was to just wrap up a picture of it for under the tree , bit of a cope out really . Best of luck
