Mistakenly left my phone at home yesterday - nightmare. I know there are many on here who hate them, but I was at sea without it. To start I couldn't pay for parking at the station - took me 10 minutes to find a pay machine that hadn't either been removed (I suppose since everyone now uses a phone) or wasn't out of order. So missed my train. Then had a very boring journey with no headlines to read or podcasts to listen too. Then didn't have the address of where I was going, and no means of ringing anyone to find out - luckily the grey cells kicked in, and the address came to me from a distant memory (ie last Friday). Was very glad to get home
in other news .....heard yesterday that my Dad, who is in hospital at the moment trying to recover from a heart infection.....might still be in there at Christmas. Going down to visit after work, like I did most days last week. Probably another reason I felt so vulnerable without my phone
Morning Clari, LilyP, Dove & Chicky, and all yet to come!
About to catch the train to visit Mum. Got her some After Eights as a Christmas present... seems a bit meagre but she loves them, and can't really grasp the concept of gifts any more, so I think they should fit the bill.
Chicky - that's a blow. Thinking of you & your family...
Must go & clean teeth. Have a good day, all!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Hope your Dad is ok, Chicky. I can relate to the phone thing - it's not until you leave it behind that you realise all the 'extra' things you use it for. Except to me they're not the extras - I hardly ever use it as a phone!
I think I've caught up on sleep since my bad night on Saturday night. I hope so, as I've taken a day's leave to try and get a bit more sorted in the house and for Christmas. I am a woman on a mission today and need to be awake! Cleaning, decorations, present ordering (actually, just having some present ideas would be good), getting my head together etc.
Liriodendron, the best present is the one suited to the person and the circumstances and chosen with thought - After Eights sound perfect. And now I'm craving some.
Have a good day everyone. If you see me on here all day you'll know that either I'm making good use of my breaks (good) or I'm in avoidance mode (bad).

'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.'
Must finish my cards this morning, especially as there is an English Post Office strike next week. I hadn't time to do any over the last few days.
Sorry about your Dad, Chicky. I hope he's making good progress though. What a nightmare journey for you, thank goodness you remembered the address.
I didn't even know you could pay for parking with a phone. Never seen that in France. We use money here! Some machines take cards. I don't even know what a podcast is. I only use my phone for phoning, at least, when there is a signal! That must be why people say there is a slower pace of life in rural France.
