Hello Glenys. Don't you have clock changes in SA? I'm in SW France, we are always an hour ahead of the UK. Do you have frosts in winter? Here we often have colder winters than UK but hotter summers, often in the 30°s.
Milder this morning, no frost, 6° at 11am.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hope all the Christmas preparations are going well.
It's a lot warmer today but dull. I think I prefer the cold frosty weather.
I disturbed a heron on the pond this morning and when he flew off he was mobbed by a buzzard. It's usually the buzzards who are mobbed by the rooks and crows.
Royal London have lost all the financial advisor forms I sent to them eight weeks ago. They have sent a second set to be filled in at great expense by a man with a rubber stamp who charged me £125 last time for one hour. I have written a stroppy letter, enclosing scan copies of said original set of forms, and including a few words such as incompetence and delaying tactics.
Now for the bunch that won't talk to me because I changed my name.
We left Cape Verde yesterday afternoon in 31C of glorious sunshine. We scraped the car at 1am at Gatwick in -2C. Glenys and Pat, I'd love some of your heat and you can have my freezing cold house.
Arrived home at 5am and tipped straight into bed ( disgusting I know, but I was knackered)
Polytunnel went down to -2.5C in our absence.
Off for a walk round the garden to see what's what.
I did, Dove - just come in from bagging up the leaf mould (4 compost sacks full, and I'd already used a couple of sack's worth! Am delighted) so that I could move this year's batch into position and add some more leaves. Stirred it, watered it and came back in to treat myself to scrambled eggs for lunch. Now feeling fantastic - I know I'll be tired later but I hope the frosty fresh air and physical activity will help me sleep tonight. Washing on, Christmas puds steaming away on the stove and I'm even feeling positive about going and cleaning the shower.
Isn't gardening amazing for lifting one's mood?
Welcome home from your holiday Hostafan. I've joined in while you were away.
'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.'
Application form has been completed. They're accepting entries until the 16th December so I'm not expecting to hear anything before Christmas truth be told but that isn't going to be stopping me from hitting refresh on a regular basis. It does look really very good.
I've just thrown out a 50L bag of old Christmas cards. I'm a bit of a hoarder It'll free a place for the next few years worth!
Bought fresh (?) yeast from the SM bakery. Mixed it in warm water with a little sugar and waited for the foam. Nothing happened. Have added powdered yeast to my dough, has now risen.

To be fair, it's a wee bit hazy today, but I'm just off down to the lake for some fresh air and a nose about.
