Palate's never too tired for chocolate, Topbird...
Hello all!
We returned yesterday evening from an entertaining Christmas trip to Galway, spent with two excited and happy granddaughters and their mum and dad. We were blown home so we landed 20 mins early in Manchester. The intended Christmas visitors to our cottage did less well, and had to cancel because there were no ferries at all on 23rd (and as it happened, none on 26th and very few on 22nd and 24th). Shame! But the New Year visitors are safely there, with hatches battened down in case of more wind.
I've caught up with all your doings! Sad then good news from Wonky; it was a shame the "gardening" job turned out to be unsuitable, but great that you have something better lined up. Onwards and upwards! Those with colds, please look after yourselves - Busy Lizzie, you need your Norfolk trip to recuperate. And Punkdoc can look forward to a holiday in the sun soon - hope it hits the spot and you return feeling better. Hope Chicky's dad continues to improve, and Fairylet's tooth troubles are soon behind her. So pleased you'll be off soon to Russia to meet the newest family member, LilyP. And finally, best wishes to Obelixx's sewing machine...
Sorry, I can't remember everything I've read in the last umpteen pages. Too much goose, I think...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Great to have you blown back safely Lirio shame for your Christmas holiday let, hope the new year lot are settled and snuggled! Sounds like you have had a lovely family Christmas!
BusyL had to chuckle at the key story, handy to have a spare set tho I suppose hope you feel better from your cold soon! Time to let others run round and fuss over you
Lesley, new comfy shoes! me too! nipped into Clark's today for an office pair of flats as its been steel toe caps, boots or trainers for as long as I can remember! Also ransacked TK maxx and got some beautiful pieces for cheaper than chips prices!
Shame Dove didn't come today, I'd been up tidying half the night about to make it a mess again
Glad your getting better nights sleep Hosta, keep it up
Its been an odd sort of day, not used to having time without a massive list of things to do.....I've been sitting at the kitchen table with classic FM on with my yoga teaching friend trying to get my head round the fact that I have free time...... give me a few days..i'll get used to it
Friend coming over tomorrow from Liverpool for a few days and I'm so sick of roast dinners that I'm sticking a Moroccan lamb in the slow cooker.....yay.....something to do!
Evening all. I've spent lots of time reading about 5 pages of chatting. It's so lovely to be able to read what everyone has been doing. We had a lot of Pork left over from Christmas Day, so it's been diced and then I made a stew with carrots, celery, onions and fresh herbs, then decided I fancied some pasta, so added a sachet of tomato purée and anchovies plus more fresh thyme, and walla! We had a lovely pasta meal. The rest of the stew is in the freezer and will be made into meat pies whenever Hubby is in the mood to make pastry.
We've got light rain so the expected 30plus prediction is a bit less. This rain is coming all the way from Darwin, would you believe. There's a wide band coming right across the whole continent. There have been lovely photos on the weather channel of water running off the rock (Uluru).
Just read that too Pat ( and good morning to you ). How sad, the day after her daughter. What the family must be going through....
Awake at 5 this morning , but almost 6 hours sleep, so that's ok .
Good luck with the rain Pat. It's been dry here for some time so I've been able to get on top of gardening before we head off to The Gambia for some much needed heat ( 30+ HURRAH ) and sunshine.

Very sad to report that we've just heard that Debbie Reynolds has died. That's all I know so far.

That'll do for me.
Thanks for that Hosta. Even though there has been much rain, it's been much cooler than expected. Long sleeved shirt and socks.
Glad you're going to get some much desired heat.
Morning all/afternoon Pat
Hosta- enjoy the heat. . . . .
I don't cope when it's that hot
Sad news about Debbie R.
SM delivery in 8-9am slot so better get dressed.
8-9???? Damned ungodly hour of the day.
We , mercifully, don't deliver before 9 .
Hi Joyce.
