Mr TB sends thanks for the birthday wishes. We had a very nice lunch but I could still possibly find a little corner for one (or two) of those scrummy mince pies Dove (cream pleaseimage)

Lesley - I'm as guilty when it comes to pre-Christmas picking so it is just easier to keep stuff hidden in the spare room. Out of sight and all that. Big shock this morning when I started taking food downstairs and realised the large tub of Celebrations had disappeared. The b$$$er had hidden it for safe keeping! - from me! - how very dare he?imageimage Got them back now though.image

His b'day is the official Christmas lights day so the sitting room and hall are now all nice and twinklyimage.

Love Scotland so much - especially the west coast and the Highlands & Islands. But I don't think I fancy being up there tomorrow and Saturday. Hope all our northern friends stay safe and warm with not too much disruption to travel plans or power cuts.

Kind people in your village BL - hope your refugees settle in soon and can become part of the community

T'bird -  is your OH suggesting you might have eaten the chocs? How very dare he...as if.....image

Glad he had a nice birthday treat  image

You wouldn't get past Glenshee now T'bird - they've just said the snow gates are shut. That's the first time this winter - later than normal.

Have a biscuit - I'm sure daughter wouldn't miss one or two.....

I've got my eye on one of those fat snowmen....image

I don't like mince pies, but Dove's could almost tempt me....image

    Evening all.

More woodchip moving today. Very therapeutic.

Programme on BBC4 last night on the Nilgiri steam Railway in Southern India. It was a repeat from years ago, but it inspired us to head to Tamil Nadu and take the journey up the hill to " Ooty" 2240m above sea level.  Worth watching on catch up. Beautiful scenery and lots of shots of lovely wild elelphants.

    Happy Birthday Mr Topbird.

    Devon.

Hosta, you will sleep well tonight , hopefully

Dove thank you, sounds not too difficult,.  Everyone welcome! Thank you for all the offers of accompanimentsimageimage order for white or red???

havent been over the door today, lovely Christmas cooking day in the kitchen, my favourite place (next to the greenhouse) weather has been foul, or should I say "fowl"image

there is lots of kindness about, despite the current horrors of the world, all our delivery drivers today have brought treats for the dogs. A small but touching gesture deserving a  mince pie

  • That steam railway programme was a delight, Hosta.  Beautiful countryside and really lovely people.  image  Oh, and steam trains for OH...

My mouth is watering looking at all that gorgeous Christmas food.  I could just manage one of Dove's mince pies (pretty please - with cream!), and maybe a Fairylet snowflake biscuit in case I get peckish before bedtime.  image  How kind you all are...  image

I think we're ready for an early-ish start tomorrow.  Boy, am I pleased we decided to fly instead of going by the up-and-down route!  image  I must apologise for the weather.  Storm Barbara is clearly my fault...  image

It was fun shopping for the refugees, if you didn't think too hard about what they'd been through to get here. Some of the small children had just the clothes they wore when they arrived. I bought clothes for a 7 month baby. My friends will deliver them tomorrow. They usually have a barn full of donated stuff, but a lorry load had just left when these families arrived here.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

It's harrowing to think that all they have is the clothes they are wearing. . . . many have left comfortable lives behind them.
