Oops, caught the post button too soon. anyway, all will be well in the end I suppose, but feeling a bit down I called in the shop at 7:29 risking glares from staff just about to close to buy myself a bottle of wine (no stash at friend's house). Then, just when you think you've solved all your problems or are about to drown them, I couldn't find a corkscrew.
Like I said, a funny day, and I don't mean funny ha ha.
I think like you Clari, it's time for bed. Good night all. ?

Oh dear DD. Better to have an early night than a hangover tomorrow I suppose but fancy no corkscrew! Frustrating. Probably wise to be frugal for the mo but I hope you find some Xmas cheer and remember it's you and the people you're with that make life special, not Xmas decs but if they're yours, can you not take some for your place?
OH is feeling woeful with his gouty paw but the doc has given him some meds we hope will kick in overnight. We're off to Chateau d'Olonne (a town) tomorrow for a car service and will go to the market while it's in dock and then to the harbour at Les Sables d'O for a fishy lunch and thence to do some errands when the shops open again after lunch.
How far away is your mum Liri? Glad you had a good time with her.
OH and i have decided to treat ourselves to a new camera for Xmas but, since we've both had birthdays in the last 3 weeks we can wait to buy it in the sales along with a robot vacuum cleaner. Just small presents to find and wrap for Xmas day - apart from Possum's.

We're watching the Royal variety performance. The soldier doing the card trick made me choke a bit. I'm not surprised that him and the bomb squad got a standing ovation. Maybe I'm just overtired and need to go to bed. I think I picked up a virus from the in laws at the weekend. Either that or I've not recovered from the party going on beneath our hotel room until one on Sunday morning. We did get the hotel bill cut in half when we checked out Sunday.
Oh DD! I struggle for space with just the one dog I can't imagine trying to share a bed with three! I hope they are at least obedient when they choose to listen (a terrible trait of huskies is their being highly trained... but choose to ignore you)
I've watched a programme by Lucy Worsley on Henry VIII that I've been meaning to do all week, I think she may be my current favourite "historian". Not really found anything to watch that catches my eye.
Fidget get your pj's on and hit water bottle sorted! There are so many viruses going around right now you want to give your body a fighting chance!
When I was courting the first husband, I used to arrive home late and go to bed and find it prewarmed. The Colsation used to be on it if it was vacant and would slink downstairs to the sofa when I came in. One particular night I was very late, and the dog was still there. When I told her to shift, she growled at me, obviously decided it was hers for the night.
I'm saving the Henrys wives series. I'm currently binging on the box set of Quantico. I have to watch it in batches otherwise I lose the thread.
DD, yes - it's got to be a shock to the system to go back to your old house, especially with a much-loved cat you had to leave behind. Even though you were desperate to escape, there are things about your old life which you will be mourning. You're a brave woman to face these things and you deserve (and have!) great respect for the way you're handling yourself. Hugs from me!
Obelixx, Mum is in Northumberland & I'm in west Yorks - 4 hours by public transport, three and a half by car. There's no point staying longer than an hour or so - she gets tired, & I run out of things to tell her - so sometimes I go away for a cuppa in the local pub and come back for a second visit before catching the train home.
OH was asleep when I got in. The virus is less virulent, but still holding on...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Evening everyone. There's too many things to comment about, but my best wishes for all.
ive been struggling here. It was so hot yesterday. I spent the whole day inside, so I can only say it's hard to keep myself focussed on interesting things. Lots of colouring in my books which I enjoy, and watching some interesting programs on the History channel. This morning it is overcast and much cooler - prediction for showers and about 10 degrees cooler. We're off to town soon for Hubby's chiro appt.
Hi - busy couple of days but feet up now and ready for bed
Chicky - sorry to hear your Pa is not so well. Hope he makes a full recovery and is home soon.
Liri - difficult with your mum isn't it? But I'm sure she knows somehow how much you love and care for her.
DD - I just want to give you a big hug. This is a horrible time of year for so many people and with all you've been through this year it's no wonder you have some low days.
Will you have Charlie with you on the 25th? If not, I hope you can plan to do some things which will keep you occupied through most of the day. I have been seen digging a neglected patch in the garden on 'that day' when I've been on my own. Good to avoid 'live' telly which always seems to be full of impossibly happy films / programmes. Guaranteed to make anyone feel depressed.
I now claim Hosta's "Bah, Humbug" crown....
As far as decorations go I have sometimes used a prettily shaped small twiggy branch in place of a tree. Perhaps some of your friends (even your ex) might have a few spare baubles they can either lend or give you to brighten it up - and perhaps you could allow a couple of euros to buy just one box of decorations to start off your new collection. I always use nuts, mandarins and lemons set in greenery as part of my decorations. They stay for a few days and then we eat them - so they don't really cost any money (I think).
Hope you feel a lot more like you soon.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

Good night DD. Hope you feel perkier in the morning. Did you shoo the dogs off the bed?
I spent the afternoon doing Christmas shopping, nearly done now.
Off to watch Rillington Place. Shudder

DD There wouldn't be much room left in the bed with three large dogs on it.
I think all the hype at this time of year accounts for many people feeling down.
It must have been hard to see your decorations and the cat in what was your home. ((hugs))
Hope you perk up again soon.
