    Evening all.

    Erm, Topbird, no chance Poppet.image

Still no Xmas apron at work. I think they've decided it's not worth the bother to offer me one. The only other person not wearing one is a Jehovah's Witness, so he's exempt it seems.

No decorations here , no tree, no fairy lights. ( and that's not going to change )

I've bought my daughters a card each ( not posted yet ), but still none for Hubby.

Looks like I didn't miss much at the christmas party on Sunday night. I discreetly asked some colleagues today and the response was, at best, lookwarm.

Not sleeping again tonight, clearly. It was around 3.30 this morning when I dropped off . I haven't even got the woodburner to " watch" tonight as we'd run out of kindling and couldn't get it lit. Very mild though so it was a bit of an indulgence.

DD, keep your spirits up. You and Charlie will have a great time. He seems a great little man and , I'm sure, he'll understand the changes this year and make the most of his time with you, and time with his Dad too. It'll be different , but you'll make the most of it. Lots of exciting plans for next year. Just think how much you've achieved in the last 12 months. Hosta Hugs to you. x

Hoping poorly peeps and pets improve.

    Devon.

Hugs to DD ... Yes this bit can be tough but it will get better. It would've been bad if you'd stayed too, and this way you can see things getting better not worse. There's no place lonelier than a lonely marriage - I know. image

((hugs)) for DD - difficult time of year, but you have come so far ✨✨. And next year this will all seem like a dream.  Start planning festive schemes for CdeG, you're going to have such fun with itimage

Thanks for all the Dadwellwishes image  He was so much better last night - even walking round without a stick now.  However still on IV antibiotics, which will be the complicating factor in getting him home/to one of us.  Doctors to opine today or tomorrow, so should know more then

Forgot to mention .....saw the Christmas tree at Waterloo Station on Monday.  Wisley provided it, as a promotion (its "their" station) .....decorated with garlands of flowers -hydrangea heads with other things mixed in.  And all the baubles are glass balls filled with flower or seed heads like chinese lanterns.  Absolutely gorgeous.  Would have taken a pic, but had left my phone at home .......as I might have mentioned beforeimage

  • Glad your dad is perkier Chicky image  They'll send him home if they possibly can I'm sure. It'll be setting up the transitional care over the holiday that is always tricky.

    The tree decorations sound beautiful.

    Morning all.

I was standing outside at 2am watching the meteor shower. Well, 10 mins between them. Not sure that's a shower, but the nice weatherman on BBC1 said 2am was the peak so I gave up after that and went back to bed.

Hubby brought me a cuppa at 8 as I'm determined to get out of this cycle of late night awake / late morning sleeping.

Nice sunny morning so another cuppa then off into the garden.

Morning all. Working today and not in the mood. I got lots done yesterday though, so feeling much calmer and more festive.

Dordogne Damsel, yesterday must have been very hard. Like everyone else who knows you better says though - the future looks bright. Perhaps just a small investment in a few of your own decorations - or indeed homemade ones - would help to cheer you? A string of fairy lights can make anything look festive...

Meant to say yesterday - I hope you feel able to keep visiting, Punkdoc. You are someone I've seen on here for quite a long time and I always enjoy and appreciate your contributions. The currrent situation in Aleppo must be v difficult to witness too. Take care.

The Wisley tree sounds gorgeous. Am trying to work out if I can fit in a detour via Waterloo in the next few days. I'll try to remember my camera if so!

    Best get on.

  • Hello all.

No tree here this year, since we're joining the rest of the family in Ireland; we've got the cards up, and just a few "essential" decorations (including the cardboard Santa given to OH when he was around 8, which then contained a chocolate orange in its stomach).  But next time we have a real tree - hydrangea heads, cones, seedheads... sounds beautiful!

So glad your dad is perkier, Chicky.

Nothing like a bit of gardening to help you get over a sleepless night, Hosta...

The cat isn't speaking to me.  We've just got back from the vet (annual booster etc) and she is Not Amused.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

For 'dumb animals' it's funny how we know when cats are 'not talking to us' isn't it? Mine's the same. And he sulks like a teenager when I stop him going on the beds.

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
