Good morning all. Lovely day for a drive out Hosta - enjoy
Wonder what adventures are in store for Wonky today
No frost here, but think we may get a touch tonight. Very clear blue sky here this morning.
Physio this morning, and a birthday present to buy for bestest friend ... Not really sure what - maybe a nice scarf from East? Shall have to have a wander around ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Flat garage roof is all white, , with a touch of frost on the grass. I must move the Echeveria today and put the greenhouse heater on.
My pension company will not talk to me since I changed my name from my previous married surname back to my maiden name. This took place 20 years ago. They want a deed poll. I don't have one. Do you think if I got the bank (who did accept the change) to photocopy and certify all six of my passports(they accepted the change) that that would be acceptable.? I can't ask on the phone because I spent an hour on the phone last time to get precisely nowhere. Amazing how quick these people are to take your money, but how awkward they get when you want it back.
If you have to Fidget, a Deed Poll is easy to do by DIY. I did it online about seven years ago when I reverted to my maiden name some years after my divorce.

Autumn colours in the garden are looking fab: Acer a fantastic red, the Beech trees a lovely buttery yellow, Cotinuses multi coloured and looking like fairly livid bruises.
Have a good day.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Cotinus with a low sun behind lighting up the leaves is a thing of great beauty from spring through till autumn - but especially in autumn
My front garden looks as though we have yellow snow. There's a slight breeze today which is shifting the ash and silver birch leaves so every time I look up there are yellow leaves floating past the window and the woodland border is completely carpeted in yellow leaves.
If it wasn't for the piles of shingle, sand and cement all over the drive it would be a picture.
Landscaping continues and today the turf is going down - lots of it - just in time for our first frost A job which was originally 2 - 3 weeks is now 3 - 4 but they have done major extra work with the drains. If anybody needs a recommendation for an excellent landscaper covering mid and west Suffolk do get in touch
Ooops manners! - Good morning everybody - have a good one.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Morning everyone! Just a brief catch up for me before ploughing on with work. 'Accidentally' stayed up until 1am with Mr Cat and a bottle of wine so I'm not feeling quite 100%... Beautiful blue sky out there but no frost - heavy mist hanging in the bottom of the valley with just the tops of the trees on the opposite ridge showing above it. New liners for my troughs arrived yesterday so at some point today I will be refreshing those with some pansies, and also broadcasting some papaver somniferum seeds that I totally forgot I had, from Mr Cat's previous garden. No idea if they will still be viable (they're four years old) or if this is a very bad time to do it! Enjoy your visit to Barnstaple Hosta
Morning all, Been awake since 4.30 a.m. so now I'm really tired. Dropped grandaughters off at breakfast club and got back early as I'm expecting a delivery today. Had to de-ice the windscreen this morning before setting out. Must get the frost free heater set up in the greenhouse to keep all my babies safe. Must say it was a lovely drive home, the trees are looking beautiful and it's a lovely sunny day. I think we have had the best October in a long while. It's been dry and still here with lots of sunshine over the past few weeks.
If delivery arrives before lunch and I'm not too tired I'll pop over to secondborn's this afternoon to see Jonah. Secondborn is off to Rome on friday for a little birthday break with her partner, first time she has left Jonah so she's a bit nervous.
Cat, poppy seeds remain viable for ages. Our previous home in Northumberland was an ex-farmhouse, with a concrete yard which the farmer broke up for us and removed, so we could make a garden. That summer, before we'd done more than go over it with a mattock, it was really beautiful - loads of cornfield weeds whose seeds had been under the concrete for maybe 40 years, and Shirley poppies.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Pdoc that sounds gorgeous. I'm trying hard to find a spot for a cotinus.
