Sadly not Dove, all washed down stream somewhere, but it will open up new opportunities.

  • Oh, that's a shame image  I don't suppose I've got much that you want - I do have some Hosta 'Blue Angel' seeds (open pollinated) if you're interested?

I'm Sat by the river Stour,  watching a  Herron watching me  whilst eating my packed lunch  having been rained on and stuck in traffic, not looking forward to journey home, Orwell bridge was closed all morning and traffic is a nightmare! image

Very kind of you Dove, but I am ok for Hostas, as plenty elsewhere in the garden.

Wonky - I love herons image  Elegant and gawky at the same time image  The traffic in Ipswich has been on the national news!

Note ... I have not volunteered to clean your oven!

OH has discovered our new steam cleaner - I think it is now his - he is happy in the kitchen in a cloud of steam - all I've been allowed to do is put the racks in a plastic bag and tip some cleaning fluid into it. image

    Afternoon allimage

Congratulations to Clari and team on the commendation/award - will make sure I visit if I'm in Sheffield.

Commiserations to Doc on the loss of the plants - hope your stream goes back to gently meandering soon.

We have had a frustrating day. Decided to collect my lawnmower from the dealers in Ipswich where it has been serviced - thinking to also hit John Lewis and Waitrose and then a go home via a depot near Woodbridge to collect salt blocks for the water softener.

Didn't even think to look at the travel / local news and hit stationary traffic on the A14 about 10 miles out. It was then that we learned of the Orwell Bridge closure... We never did get to Ipswich. Managed to get to Woodbridge via country lanes but A LOT of HGVs were also attempting detours around Ipswich so it wasn't an easy journey. Journeys via Ipswich that normally take 20mins were taking 2 - 3 hours.

For those that know the area - 2 HGV's met travelling in opposite directions in the middle of Coddenham -  no idea how they've sorted that one out - fortunately we had just decided to turn round and go the other way so we didn't get stuck but they might still be thereimage

On the bright side, however, we came home via the farm shop which is always a pleasure to visit. They were doing a very brisk trade which was good to see.

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
  • Lorries stuck in the lanes around Coddenham was a fairly frequent occurrence even back in the day when I lived around there. One was usually a beet lorry.

Just had something really nice happen. I got a thread caught in the workings of my sewing machine and had to disassemble the bobbin race. Then I simply couldn't get it back together. In desperation I phoned a sewing machine and sewing stiff shop in the city. Bring it in they said so I did. I thought I'd have to leave it there but they fixed it - it took about 10 mins as mines not a make they're familiar with. They let me test it and it works perfectly and they refused to charge me a penny.

A big cheer for Sew Creative of Norwich!

    Hi all.

I might be mistaken, but I think a friend of ours might have won an award for her museum in Sheffield. If so congratulations, if not you should have!

Force of the water when the stream flooded has ripped out a lot of plants, but easier to deal with than a flooded house. Water levels going down, but a lot of Sheffield is badly affected.

We didn't win, but we were at least recognised! :)
