Morning all. Hope all gardens are above water and that everyone and their loved ones are safe and warm ((hugs))
i shall look at the Sarah Raven website when I'm downstairs with my laptop. At the moment I'm still snuggled under the duvet with my first mug of coffee

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Today has been declared Oven Cleaning Day OH says he'll give me a hand cos of my shoulder - he doesn't want me to undo the good the physio has done by doing things at odd angles.

I might be mistaken, but I think a friend of ours might have won an award for her museum in Sheffield. If so congratulations, if not you should have!
Force of the water when the stream flooded has ripped out a lot of plants, but easier to deal with than a flooded house. Water levels going down, but a lot of Sheffield is badly affected.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Dry here today but it won't last. Set to be soggy again tomorrow. We are assured by our neighbours plus the official survey that has to be done for house sales here that we don't get flooded, ever, but it seems a chap round the corner has water running through his home in bad weather after the local agency "improved" the flow of surface water nearby but carefully left his escape drain blocked.
Things seem pretty bad in several parts of the country with local flooding and transport problems. I hoep everyone is OK.
No oven cleaning here but I will be calling in an doctor and an electrician. I've decided I can't cope with a bottle gas oven except for family stuff so we're getting an electrician to supply a cable so I can use my trusty Rangemaster and a doctor to re-calibrate its gas hobs and check the fan in the oven. Then I can do proper baking again and crispy roast potatoes.
Lantana - tell him if he wants his Xmas feast he has to clean the oven first............

Morning all/afternoon Pat
Overnight rain so not freezing today, thankfully.
I hope those of you affected by yesterday's very wet weather are drying out and don't have any damage.

Pdoc, glad you're ok - can you salvage the plants or will you have to get some new ones?
Looks like she's been Highly Commended http://www.emergencymuseum.org.uk/
Brilliant!
Maybe that'll help firm up their funding.

Morning all.
Another warm ( 27C ) day ahead. Slept well again last night. Long may that continue.
Beach sunbed beckons for us again today. It's a hard life but someone has to do it.
Haven't caught up with the weather back at home but , from what you guys are saying, it looks pretty rubbish.
A friend of mine has just arrived in Mongolia, -33C I think that's too cool even for you Pat eh?
That's good news for Clari
I hadn't realised that the museum relied on donations.
The sun is out now so I'll maybe tackle some more leaves. . . . preferable to oven cleaning
