    Morning all.

Clari, well done and many happy returns to Obelixx.

I knew it was too good to be true. Bed last night at 11 , still wide awake at 3.30. I was tempted to go the 24 hour bar for some , non snoring , company, but it's a sports themed bar so I decided against it.

    More beach for us today.

Punkdoc, I too would be happy to send a plant or two for the garden.

    Devon.

Joyce, it had something to do with being widowed and the amount was set for everyone, then at 65 it's based on contributions and we haven't lived in France for long enough.

    Happy birthday Obelixx.

I decided to have a late cup of tea to celebrate my third enjoyable thing and used the L2 milk. I won't be using that again in tea!  Threw half the mug out.image  Looks like the L2 will be reserved for cereal. I've decided to settle for my third thing to be enjoying a few programs on TV tonight. They WERE good after all. Our latest enjoyment is American Voice. Love that show and the contestants are really good this year and we are really enjoying Miley Sirus and Alicia Keys as judges. (Can't remember how to spell them).

bed time, so good night all.. Hope Hosta gets a better sleep tonight.

Thanks everyone.  Lunch has been had and much enjoyed.  We got our moues frites plus starters and desserts in the Bistro du Port at La Faute-sur-Mer where they just happen to grow a lot of France's mussels on wooden posts (bouchot).  Lots of folk in there from local workers in their working gear to OAPs in their Sunday best and others just out for a good lunch.  3 course menu of the day for 14€ with steak, capon, gammon or squid for the main course.

Miserable weather today so we went for a drive down to the point opposite La Rochelle but did not venture out for a walk.  We'll go back with the dogs on a sunny day and with wellies.

Pat - why limit yourself to 3 good things?

Busy - sorry you're feeling glum and hope it passes.  My UK state pension has taken a hit too but then I've only been claiming it since July as we deferred it for a year.  They offer 10% extra if you do and then they ask if you want that as a fixed lump sum or a monthly top up for life so you have to gamble again.  OH's ambition is to play golf when he's 100 and I'm not planning to leave him on his own so we've gambled.

Lesley - what are you baking?

It was, thanks Dove, and so good to see so many folk enjoying a good lunch too.   Might go back for that 14€ menu when I don't have a yen for mussels.  It looked very good from what I could see.

Currently busy trying to fathom the IKEA kitchen planner to see if it's worth re-doing this one but it's in inches and my measuring tape only does cms!    Might just go for plan A and leave it as it is with the real electric ovens and our own dishwasher in the annex.  The one they left behind can't cope with our dinner plates and it thinks our wine glasses are a bit tall too.  Ours won't fit under the worktop.   Lots of faff and fiddlesticks.

Evening all. That's 90 children waved good bye too. I'm now doing my invoicing (badly apparently: since I'm on here! image ) and general paperwork until my evening visitors to the museum arrive.

I had a giggle earlier: A female volunteer is coming to help me with this group. I have assured her that despite the distance in entirely the wrong directly I will ensure she gets home safely. It is only fair and surely no one would expect a lone female to catch trains / buses etc.

Then it hit me. I have ALWAYS been the person who made sure others got home safely. Going out of their way (in this case adding an hour to my 20 minute journey) to make sure others are okay...

... where is the person making sure I get home okay?! I've walked home in the dark my entire life, cycled through the rain / snow / dark nights without even considering it dangerous. Because I'm me. Apparently the world assumes that if something happens I'll

    a) shout at it. Loudly. Until it goes away.

    b) fix it.

Any other women out there thinking that perhaps they were trying to master peeing while standing up instead of getting the "delicate female must be cared for" card?

I have a cold brewing. Now surprising since I've met nearly 900 children, not to mention all those teachers and assistants, and baby brothers who wouldn't be left at home and the trip wouldn't happen if the mother wasn't able to come... can you even start to consider just how much SNOTTY GERMS that must be?

Still: on Sunday the dog and I are being left home alone while my truck, my partner, and his friends, have a man day.

I forsee a blanket, many hot water bottles, and the laptop so I can buy all my Christmas gifts online.

Clari, have a pampering "me" day on Sundayimage

I always has windows open in the classroom in the hope of avoiding all the germs as kids coughed and sneezed. I'm a believer in cold weather killing nasties off.
