    Morning all.

Dove:   "He'll help me fleece the fig".

Is that some sort of euphemism?

yesterday's cloud has moved on and the sun is shining so I'd best make a move to the beach.

Keep your sprits up punkdoc, your holiday isn't too far off now.

Obs, I too love the market structure.

    Catch you all tomorrow.

    Devon.

I'd rather she used common sense.

I remember Bush and Blair saying similar stuff about Iraq.

Afternoon all. Just having a tea and no biscuit break at work. My school has departed I'm now trying to do all the paperwork (boring bit).

I'm TWO children short of a thousand this month. TWO! I'm actually tempted to get in the fire engine and drive around Sheffield til I find a scout group that I can force a fire safety / first aid / Great Fire Of London workshop on. I've got until Wednesday night there must be a group out there somewhere for me.

Bonus of course is that not only does the fire engine have better heating than my house but my fire kit is much much warmer than my normal clothes: ideal for the plummeting temperatures they've mentioned. Last night Reggie was put to bed with a blanket as he has no under coat and I'm worried that his NEED to sleep on the bed is partly due to the cold. I will confess: I need to nip to Asda tonight for some essentials, I'm tempted, just tempted, to look for a cheap hoodie that I can turn into a warm layer for him to wear! (Pets At Home don't do jackets big enough: fortunately for my disapproving OH).

I fleeced the banana in the greenhouse. That's not a euphemism either.

Lovely winter's day here, but very cold. Did a couple of hours weeding and have not warmed up since.

Expecting minus 6 overnight, hopefully start to kill off all the pests.

I've just been out to pick a bunch of parsley, and the redwings are calling from the hedgerows - they've moved in from the fields as the temperature is dropping.

Supper is prepped - it will be pan fried skate and scallops with smoky bacon and butter and caper sauce, purple sprouting and crispy roasted baby potatoes.

Maybe I should find a bottle of something white and chilled?

On Saturday I picked some sage to put in the stuffing. I dropped it on the work surface for a while. Late that night I found  what I think is a rosemary beetle, on the white tiles. Quite large with a striped carapace.  I will have to give the  herb bed a good shake over newspaper to see if there are any more. That one got squished.

  • Hello all!  Escaped from the paint smell for a rather dark walk up the road, and yay! There's a signal on my phone.  Today was dry but dull, so I didn't much mind spending a lot of it giving the staircase 2 coats of paint.  The in-your-face green, all I could find l in a hurry 18 years ago, has been replaced by "Perfect Praline", a sort of inoffensive taupe.  Definitely imperfect after the first coat, but now looks promising.  image  Tomorrow I'm escaping for a few hours and joining the island art group for a bit of light relief.

Cosmos looks gorgeous, Obelixx.  My white moggy will no doubt be sleeping on my head again after I return home on Friday...

    Best wishes to all.  image
