Never had bread sauce - didn't know it existed till a few years ago - but OH grew up with his mum's version and loathes it so I've never been tempted to make it. Haven't had fish fingers since Possum was about 4 and decided Belgian croquettes de crevettes were more her style - made with North Sea little brown shrimps and delish if done properly but a bit gloopy if done badly.
I didn't know about bread and butter pudding either till Delia did it on TV. Didn't meet chocolate mousse till I was in my 20s. Clearly there are culinary drawbacks to being brought up by strict Methodists who ere on the side of Plymouth Brethren..... We knew what day of the week it was by what we had for dinner.
I have made up for it since! I also try at least one new recipe a week - 3 or 4 just lately as there's all this fish available,
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Two dumpy builders sacks filled with leaves for 2018's leaf mould. No wonder us gardeners are optimists. And 30 foxgloves now in the ground - better than having their roots frozen in pots.
Fire now lit.....time to settle down with a good book ???
... and now another break of serve - three in a row ................
Chicky, you've earned yourself a snifter of something - I've not been out there in the cold Brrrrrrrrrr! I think I'm turning into a fair weather gardener now that I've retired
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
My garden is in desperate need of a tidy up but I'm not allowed to walk on the turf. However, nobody told the moles they weren't allowed to burrow underneath it. The cat was going positively bananas out there this morning - I think somebody was burrowing right under his - ahem - tail.
I think I enjoyed the tennis - Andy does like to put us through it doesn't he?
Keep warm & dry tonight everyone - looks as though it's going to be a rough ride for those in the south. Hope Hosta gets off ok
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Sorting clothes out to pack for hols and , I have to say, how nice it is to be packing clothes which look good on me, rather than those which are packed because they fit.
Bypassed 36" jeans and straight into 34!!
Leaving home at 1am to drive to Gatwick. Having seen the weather forecast , I'm not looking forward to it, nor the take off.

Think it's London and the South east that are going to bear the brunt of it

Dove, will your nerves stand the final?
I kept shutting my eyes during that last tie-break.

I'm just glad I'm not his mother - I thought my two put me through it from time to time
, but poor Judy Murray's nerves must be shot to pieces
