I've had a look on the travel sites and can't see anything major and nothing of concern on the Gatwick airport site so Hosta should be fine getting away on his holiday. They've started giving names to these storms as if they're something hugely significant, but really they're just the storms we get several of every winter - some wind, rain and probably a bit of snow on high ground. They're not hurricanes or tornadoes causing devastation across huge swathes of the country. There may be a branch or two down and a roof tile or two dislodged. People who are used to working outside will know what precautions to take and people who live in towns and cities will hardly notice anything.

Morning all. I'm staying with son, near Auxerre on the edge of Burgundy. Really strong winds here and rain this morning.
Slept badly at son's for the 2nd night. There is a mouse in my room. Friday night I heard it and thought there was a small animal in the ceiling but last night I saw it. It's very active between 4 and 6am. It went in the bin, which has nut shells in it so I put the bin outside the door, but it came bac under the door. Then the granddaughters woke up at 7am, noisy. I've just let their cat into my room but he's not interested in mice, too lazy. He's dozing on the bed leaning against my legs.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Very blowy here, enough to cause a power cut for a while but I only know because my alarm was flashing to be re-set. Sorry your sleep was disturbed Busy.
They've started naming those storms because they now come with increased force and cause a great deal more damage and flooding than in previous years - remember Carlisle, the Lakes, parts of Wales with roads, cars and caravans and even houses swept away, power cuts for days in Lancashire when a sub-station was flooded?
Anyway, dry here at the mo but grey and set to get wild and windy and wet again later on. Good for our gardening plans, assuming it stops so we can fork and muck and plant next week.
Keep warms and safe.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

I think they're setting the bar too low Obelixx. Yes there are some bad storms that do damage, but they seem to be naming what used to be just 'bad weather'.

Do they start again at the beginning of the alphabet each year for the Storm names ? Can't believe we got through the whole alphabet - last one I recall was Katie. Anyhoos, no damage here, although taxi duty at midnight last night was not much fun - mostly due to the clouds of leaves swirling around.
Rain has eased here - leaving a grey day. Think I'll get out there and help Mr C with some tidying ......and maybe get my new tree (Sorbus 'Copper Kettle') in the ground ???

I don't envy you Busy. I really hate having a disturbed night
our stinking hot day is closing and with doors and windows open, is bearable. I hope we get a good nights sleep. Still no rain.
We've got all the rain Pat. None left for anyone else
My smilies have reappeared

I think they must do Chicky. Not a lot of hope for us ever seeing Storm Zebedee.
Although i do recant a bit about Angus, it seems to have been bad in Devon

Morning all / afternoon Pat
All very calm here. Heavy frost.
Hope none of you have had any damage.
BL. . . I wouldn't be able to sleep with a mouse running around in the room.
