I'm sure you're right Busyl.  We've had the strangest day today. It started with very dark clouds moving up from the west, but knowing our record for rain not arriving, I decided to put the washing on. After hanging out the first load and just about being dragged off my feet by the wind spinning the clothes hoist around, decided to do another load and the same thing again with the second load. I managed to get all the washing in between little showers coming and going. Very odd.

my tomato plants are looking happy to be out of the little pots I'd germinated them in. As usual, I'm planting too many, but I can always dry what we can't get through.

Does anyone here make and freeze mince pies? I'm tempted to make some mince pies and am wondering if I could freeze a few too. Would they taste as good? Or am I better off actually waiting until we're closer to Christmas.

Desire for mince pies not at all helping the fact that I need to severely cut my sugar intake.

It's just occurred to me that I haven't seen neighbours young child on top of the out house recently. Must be getting slippery up there!! image

  • Yes Clari - I always bake a couple of batches ahead of time and freeze them - pop them in the oven from frozen and heat through and they're just as good as the day you first made them. image

Morning all/afties Pat. Hope you get better weather for your toms than I did this year!

Grey, damp and cool here but a little warmer than it's been. I may get more painting done if I don't get outside.

Garden's looking great Hosta. Lovely to see 'the rock' in situ and look forward to seeing 'Acer city'  image

It looks a perfect site for them.

doc - the neighbours are clearly a*******s. Rise above it all love. You are much better than that - you made that quite clear when you helped the son. Who would want to be small minded, ignorant, ungrateful s*ds like them?

Can't remember anything else , so apologies...  image

Hello, I am new to this forum so am a little puzzled by the comments posted by Pat!  Do you live in Austrslia or are you relating a dream about planting up tomatoes! You certainly wouldn't get much joy from seeds and planting up tomatoes here in the UK Just now. I miss my gardening terribly now that winter is almost upon us. image

Pat is Oz, countryside outside of Canberra.  Busy, D Damsel and I are in France.  Other Forkers are UK based but scattered over a wide range of local climates and terrain.

Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it.

  • You can have my oomph Joyce - that way it'll not be my fault if I don't have any image

I don't have any either Joyce, sorry image

Think my week off work has made me worse. Regretting working in the garden on the couple of good days at the beginning of the week instead of getting on a hill. That might have pepped me up.

Think I'll finally have to bin the sweet peas. They've struggled on valiantly through the wild weather on Frdiay night, but they look a bit battered and bruised. The foliage is really rough too. They're such good doers  - Cupani. I love them  image

    morning all, afternoon Pat,

First coffee going down, purple dressing gown on but hiding in the back room so I don't wake hubby, when he wakes he will be grumpy that I'm not there, but I can't sleep all day and waste my precious time off!

It seems we are the only ones that don't have rain but we did have it all yesterday! Had a lovely time with Dove visiting, really good to have a catch up, thanks for coming over Dove! X

Hope evedyone has a lovely day before them and the weather brightens up for all! image
