Back in from a good garden session. Tree planted and encased in its own little cage of chicken wire, as is customary in this garden. It'll come off in a couple of years, when its trunk has grown a bit and it is tough enough to withstand the attention of passing bambis. Buddleja shorn - enough to stop windrock, the real hack will come in spring. And cannas rescued for another year (don't tell OH, but I don't like them much anyway)
A couple of years ago we planted a pair of Amanagowa cherries. They are doing well, but last year I was disappointed that they had no autumn colour. This year they are like a Spanish flag - all red and yellow and absolutely gorgeous .....hard to believe its the same tree

Wind and rain eased off this afternoon so helped son to rake leaves then we went for a walk while little granddaughters were having their sleep.
Love lamb shanks and a brandy without ice sounds most welcome.
