Lantana, I'm glad you enjoyed the trees photo. It's easy to forget when you haven't been out there and looked up. I need to remind myself sometimes.
Liri sorry I meant to mention your lovely photo of the snowy hill but once I've gone to the next page, it floats out of my mind. Lovely scenery. No wonder you enjoy going over to the island.
I'm heading to bed early tonight to try for a different routine. Based on my reasoning, if I can get my needed sleep at an earlier time, I might be able to get going earlier in the morning before the temperature gets too unbearable for me outside. I actually got a bit done in the garden today when there was a brief period of cloud.
Loved the photo of the snowy hills Liri and yours of the white stemmed gum trees Pat. If yo'ure planning to start sleeping earlier you'll have to put a big sign out for your favourite visitor! Good plan though and you can always snoozle after lunch if you get tired after an early start.
Intermittent showers here but mild with a gentle breeze which is rather nice after the wild, wet and windy last few days. Busy indoors today, cleaning and preparing for tomorrow's lunch with neighbours. No idea of their likes and dislikes yet but one is a beef farmer so i'm playing safe with locally reared free range chicken breast stuffed with pesto and wrapped in Bayonne ham and baked with cherry toms and basil. Simple spuds and salad. Dessert will be bread and butter pudding made with Vendée brioche and home-made marmalade and a chocolate, pear and walnut tart with our own walnuts. No starters but there will be nibbles of teeny blinis with locally smoked salmon trout and crème fraiche. Not sure whether to do cheese before pud - like the French and Belgians - or after. The Belgians always loved it that way.......
No time to do jigsaws on the PC but yesterday I unpacked a box of jigsaws. Might start one next week now that we have a separate dining table and can leave the pices in place - unless the cat woman finally comes to do her inspection visit and we get a helpful kitten.
If it's not too late, have a great holiday Hosta with lots of sleep but do beware of burning rays coming through clouds. It can be very painful.
Have a good weekend all, whatever you and your weather are doing.

Sorry Topbird - change of plan - we will be having Braised Pheasant breasts with juniper berries and Savoy cabbage, from Darina Allen's Forgotten Skills of Cooking (fabulous book).

Hello all!
Glad you liked yesterday's photo. Have just tried to post one I took through the window this morning, but there's not enough signal...
Lovely eucalyptus trees, Pat! Such different scenery from the bog I'm standing next to at the moment.
It's about to rain. Again!

See original post
Still sounds yummy and bread sauce would still go with it.... IMO bread sauce goes with nearly everything except chocolate pudding or fish fingers
Topbird - you and Wonky have a lot in common - I think she'd even eat it with fish fingers
