Too damp underfoot and chilly around the ribs to go out bulb planting today - I've still got some narcissus and crocus to do, but they'll wait a bit longer. At least it's a bit blowy so I've got some washing on the line.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
OH has appointed himself chief washing hanger upper, now that we have a whirly gig thingy in the garden. Fine by me.
Mission for the day accomplished so far. Nice lady on the PO didn't have official containers for sending rolled up posters but went and got one of the PO's own poster holders for me. Fishmonger raided for mackerel for lunch and grey mullet for dinner. OH did the cheesemonger so we now have smelly blue stuff as well as the kind I like that stays where you put it and doesn't stink. Veggie man had just one parsnip left but it's all I needed.
Dog walking and chips next then cleaning. Dirty word I know but needs must. Then tomorrow I can play with bulbs and pots - maybe. Needs doing soon.
RB - hope you get sorted pdq..
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
I've spent a lot of the morning sorting through photos on the Laptop and choosing some to print for the album. Have masses, only want a few, grandchildren, holidays etc.
Obelixx, I haven't found small deep plant pots here. I use loo rolls for sweet peas and ordinary small black pots for broad beans. A friends uses cheap plastic tumblers from the SM with drainage holes that she makes. I heat a skewer on the gas and use that for drainage holes in plastic cups.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Been in the garden most of morning had a bit of a tidy the contractors came and cut the hedges so that's done now.
Moved a few plants and planted a few more pots up for spring and took some pictures as some of you ask to have a look.
As the gardens are communal and I'm only looking after them I have to limit size of boarders and what I use as obviously should I move on or not be able to look after them the contractors will have to do them and they would only have a limited amount of time.
I would say the guy in charge is very knowledgeable and helpful and the landlords have put money in for new plants etc.

It's good to see you again Steve.
The communal gardens look very pleasant Catnap with plenty of seating.
It must be nice to know that so many people can appreciate your efforts and that you can enjoy doing the work.
